Holland and Zeeland are neighboring towns in western Michigan off the shore of Lake Michigan. Most of the area is rural and filled with wooded spaces and farmland, but the commercial parts of Holland/Zeeland are situated between both towns in the southern section of Highway 31. The commercial section of town features plenty of modern amenities and entertainment like hotels, restaurants, big-box stores, grocers, and more. A theme park, gardens, and trails along Macatawa River are located in the area as well. More outdoor recreation is provided by Lake Michigan and Grand Rapids, which is only 30 miles northwest.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at River Club
Pros: location is good, I've had good experiences with office staff for the most part, maintenence staff are fantastic, apartment size is decent. No really safety concerns. Outside is well maintained. Maintenance requests are prompt. Privacy is respected. Pet friendly. Cons: cleanliness is not a priority. I was also victim of the ol' bate and switch as I was shown a nice apartment that seemed reasonable for the cost, but the apartment I'm in is just neglected. I was told the last two tennants did not have pets, but i swept up a bunch of pet kibble from behind the appliances... so this is either not true or just not cleaned for that long. The carpet is disgusting and worn through and instead of just updating it, they cut little loose peices and just stuck them in so they get sucked up in the vacuum. I'm noticing that the rent for new apartments here keeps going up but I doubt they've updated the places. Overall, not a terrible place, but I'm already getting on lists for when my lease is up. I had hoped to stay for a while, but there doesn't seem to be an incentive to keep tenants if they can just bump up the rent by a couple hundred whenever someone leaves.
Management is the worst. I lived there for 5-1/2 yrs. Office staff changed frequently going from good to as poor as poor can be. Daisy is an awful condescending person who refuses to return calls or provide adequate responses. The leasing agent Alex is just as bad. Neither are interested in helping you. If you’re a potential source of revenue you’re just bothering them. Upgrades are non existent. The office team gets zero stars!!! On the other hand I’m giving maintenance team Aric & Cody 10 stars. They’re outstanding. Work is thorough, clean & prompt. Every single time!
I was shown the "upgraded" apartment yet moved into an outdated apartment from the year they were built (2002). The excuse was that they could not upgrade fast enough, yet I have not seen any other apartments updated while I lived there. The apartments are OK at best. Old carpet, old appliances, fand painted over holes in the walls. The grounds were cleaner than I expected but there was dog crap everywhere and no one picked anything up. The "amenities' were about as great as what a freeway hotel could offer. The gym has abysmal machinery that is always being used and the "patio" is a dirty grill and equally dirty table set. I could have lived in a loft in Grand Rapids with a pool, grille, gym, etc for less than I wasted here. Dont let the "location, location, location" gimmick pull you in. This is just another commercially owned apartment dump that doesnt care about its residents.
I moved in 4 months ago and I honestly don't have a single complaint. With rent you don't feel taken advantage of because you are getting what you pay for. With my own washer and dryer I ever have to worry bout laundry. And there's a dog park and a grill picnic area. It's always clean and quiet. If you want a place for a family or just a nice clean place to live, riverclub is where you wanna be!
Very nice apartments for the money. They are well maintained and the office staff is very help full. I've seen a lot apartments and this one got my vote.
