The city's cultural center, the Bardavon 1869 Opera House, presents year-round performances and houses the Hudson Valley Philharmonic. The Walkway Over the Hudson, spanning 1.28 miles as the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge, provides scenic river views and connects to the Hudson Valley Rail Trail.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Rip Van Winkle House Apartments
Moving from a small studio with no kitchenette with 2 children , I would of thought moving here was going to be good for them as far as being able to cook for them now and having space . I moved here April of this year and am looking foward to leaving as soon as I can , nothing but mice and the smallest roach there is . I feel like this building neglects there residents despite the fact there children/ babies that reside here , water always being shut off , either only cold water , following with the fact that they did not turn of the heat until the middle of may , now we are in june approching july with no central air . I wish someone had told me so many things before I made that decision to move here which one of my issues is you will need a note from your doctor if you have some sort of medical condition (RESONABLE) for an A/C . I think this place is absolutley pathetic !!!!!!!!!!!
There are mice inside the walls, elevators always breaking, stair case smells like urine, always smells like weed and cigarettes in hallways, the buttons at entrance door to let guests in do not work have never worked, management very rude , disrespectful and when asked questions nobody knows anything. I am very disgusted with the place
