Ghent is a historic neighborhood near the Elizabeth River that’s known for being the oldest suburb of the city of Norfolk, with buildings dating back an entire century. The neighborhood’s picturesque architecture makes strolling through the area a delight. This walkable district is ideal for commuters, especially those who prefer to travel by foot. Many residents can walk from their homes to the downtown area, just southeast of the neighborhood, in under half an hour. A drive to downtown only takes about seven minutes.
Although Downtown Norfolk is just a hop and a skip away, residents don’t have to leave the neighborhood for dining and nightlife options. There are plenty of local establishments along Colley Avenue, like the Public House and Press 626 Wine Bar. Ghent is also home to the Eastern Virginia Medical School, the Chrysler Museum of Art, and Plum Point Park.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Pelham Place
Rent at your own risk. While most of my time here was pleasant, quiet, and convenient, and would have likely warranted a great review, the management company showed that they have little to no regard for their tenants. The entire complex was without heat for the whole of February, during which time they were slow to provide space heaters to such a degree that after several days of no heat, I had to purchase space heaters and heat my apartment. It was very costly, and I was forced to heat my apartment for an entire month with electricity. The regional manager, in email, promised the residents that they would reimburse us for our cost and compensate us for the loss of use of our units, which as of late April, has not yet occurred. While the staff here on the property are kind and willing to listen, they cannot help or assist. This pains me to write because it is clear they are trying their hardest interfacing with regional. This company is unable and unwilling to follow through with the promises given to its residents in writing. I have sent countless emails and communications, all unanswered. I am leaving my unit having had no heat for a month and several hundred dollars of unreimbursed expenses, and an abysmal taste in my mouth. I wouldn't trust myself or my property here; even in an emergency, it is clear you will not be taken care of.
