Run away don’t rent here. I moved here 2 weeks ago, since I moved in there is strong smell of something I thought it could be from painting or new apartment smell but that was not the case. I had 2 friends came over and they all said there was some kind of moldish smell so I went ahead and ordered a testing kit. 48 hours later it’s positive for mold in my closet which is in the living room closet and kitchen. Back and forth and management they came over and said they can’t smell anything since I had instances there to get rid of the smell. Spoke with corporation they won’t break the lease and trying to find a professional company to come test for mold based on my request. I have a pretty bad asthma so does my kids and this is absolutely a very terrible experience for me, it cost me to re clean everything that I had put away in the closet and now I have to re do that again moving anywhere else. Safe yourself the headache and rent somewhere else even if you have to spend some extra money this place isn’t worth it at all. I had a very bad headache and dizziness and had to go sit in the lobby in case anything happens to me yet they don’t care. Attached is a picture of my test and will be taking legal action.
The apartments and the building are nice. However, my unit is facing west and it's unbearable staying inside. The AC in the units is extremely useless and is not nearly enough to cool down the place, not even a bit. The administration won't upgrade them for better ones either, so I'm stuck in this annoyingly hot apartment until my lease end. I would not recommend living here.
Honestly, my advice is don't even bother touring this place. It is a great looking apartment building with lots of amenities, but the management is horrible. And you're going to sit there and contemplate whether the apartment is worth dealing with the management. They were great until something went wrong and then after that they were extremely rude, despite the fact that it was 100% due to their incompetence. If nothing had gone wrong I would have been writing a good review. If they had handled it maturely I would have been writing a better review. But their inability to solve their own problems without placing blame on the rentors is astonishing. If you choose to live here, I pray nothing goes wrong for you guys. If something does go wrong, then good luck.
The front desk people are nice, as are the maintenance and cleaning staff, but Horizon Realty is the only rental company/landlord I have ever had an issue with. My unit and hallway have smelled like cigarette smoke all day and night for two months now even though lease says it is a smoke-free building, even after 120+ phone calls and 80+ emails from tenants on our floor alone. Management claimed that they could not locate where the smoke was coming from after two months of multiple complaints daily. Half of laundry machines are routinely broken, printer broken, continual water issues. Frequent broken elevators. These units cost the same as other comparable units in the city but come with many less amenities and zero customer service mindset from company at the higher levels.
I can not say enough positive things about Park Michigan! The front office staff is so accommodating and friendly--Kristian and Evan are honestly the BEST!! They have been super helpful, professional, and always efficient! The concierge staff is also exceptional; T, Patrice, and Jasmine always greet me with a smile and even have treats for my dog, Kodiak. They make me feel like so welcomed! I never hear my neighbors and the building is so quiet! The ONLY negative--is the laundry room. The washer/dryers don't always work and sometimes leave soap on my clothes :( But, they have Tide Cleaner Lockers, so I just have been using those! This small issue doesn't over shine all the positives that Park Michigan offers!! I highly recommend!
Park Michigan location is amazing. Right next to the Roosevelt stop and walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, museums, parks, and key sightseeing spots in downtown Chicago. The maintenance crew is great. Put a work order in and they will fix it within a day or two.
The location of Park Michigan is just perfect. It is located in the South Loop so not dieextly in the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago but millenium park is only one train stop away or a 30 minute walk along Lakeshore Trail or through Grant Park. All the museums, Soldier Field and parks are within walking distance and in the summer a lot of great events go on here. There is also a small beach by the planetarium. The connection to public transportation is great with three L trains and several busses. There is also a Jewel Osco and a Tradee Joe's right around the corner. The apartments here are really nice and bright with great closet space and awesome ameneties such as a gym membership, business center, doorman, etc The manager Mark is really nice and puts a lot of effort into making the service and building the best it can be. Only negatives we have is the additional high parking fee for the parking garage and occasional issues to find a spot but that is something you have to anticipate when living downtown. However, when you want to live in a safe neughborhood close to all the great things Chicago has to offer this high rise is perfect and I am happy I chose it as my first apartment in the city when moving here.
This apartment is not very new, but it's at a very good location. Bus and train stations are very close. People who work here are pretty nice. The view is pretty good for both sides. The only con is the heat is not included and the outside is noisy sometimes.
Park Michigan apartments offers all the amenities a city dweller would crave; dry cleaning service, concierge, laundry center, social room, business center, Snap Fitness, Subway & a new Pizza restaurant. The staff is kind and responds quickly to questions from residents. Monthly social events are also organized. Have maintenance issues? Park Michigan has staff ready to help at a moments notice. If you want an apartment free from city noise, the higher up, the better off you will be. The building is next door to the park, and two blocks from CTA lines as well as a Jewel-Osco grocery store.
Park michigan is a great place to live, either by yourself, with roommate or with family. Location is nice. View is nice . everything is available when needed.
