DC-area commuters love Arlington’s Ballston/Virginia Square community for its close proximity to Washington and its relaxed neighborhood atmosphere. Property Ratings at Origin
TLDR - great on paper, looks amazing on tours, less rad once you live here. once you move in, you learn the quirks... the doors dont work so homeless people at the bus stop can just wander in. the outdoor tv and half the grills are broken. the doors to the rooftop dont work - you need to sneak through the bathroom. the dog park on the roof has no drainage so it absolutely REEKS of dog pee in the summer... right next to the pool. and most of all.... every single person's rent has been hiked at LEAST 15% each year. my neighbors' was increased 25%, despite the ongoing issues. my roommate and i are planning to move out when our lease is up - we KNOW we'll be hit with a $700 increase and will bail the second it happens.
great layouts in a superb location. super clean in spite of a ridiculous number of pets. but there is no credible access control, the building is pretty beat up and getting worse as it ages, and management is unable to keep up.
Don't make this mistake. Horrible place to live and crazy rent
Street access doors haven’t been locked for 2 years. Elevators rarely fully functional. Gym equipment poor condition or missing. Grills broken. A/V in community spaces broken. A/C out for multiple floors for months at a time. Nothing but excuses from management. No action.

Overall very pleased with my time here, about to renew my third lease. Very convenient location, especially for someone without a vehicle. Some loud residents and some who don't follow the rules for pets, but that would happen anywhere. One negative would be the building security, both front entrance doors have been broken for months, despite repeated assurances they would be fixed.

The apartments are laid at. well with top notch appliances. Every amenity you need (gym, terrace, rooftop, rooftop pool, pet area). Perfect location in being very close the metro and the Ballston Quarter and endless food options. The staff are quite nice as well and always friendly.

Perfect location near the metro, food, and shopping. Any amenity you?d like (pool, grills, gym, rooftop, terrace, etc.). Apartments are great with top notch appliances and good layouts, especially for anyone working from home.

I concur with others. I went to tour this property on Sunday and the gentleman who was conducting the tours was extremely rude and disrespectful. Not because he had double booked it was how he was acting. Was going to make an appointment to view but after that, forget it!

Great location with friendly residents and staff.
This is a beautiful apartment community in a convenient location. The amenities are fantastic and everything looks brand new. Antonio and Patrick in Leasing were incredibly helpful and made the move seamless and easy!
Beautiful facilities, my unit has a well designed layout and lots of natural light. Leasing office can be hard to get a hold of, but are friendly when you get them. Great location. I love the great food options that are all on the same block. Only day 2, but impressed so far.

From leasing to the front desk (shout out Andrew) to management (should out Lesby and Ekow) and maintenance, the team here at origin is terrific. They always really seem to care about the individuals leasing here and are here to assist incredibly quickly. The building's location and amenities are top notch and make my walk to work really easy each day. Super glad I decided to move here
Unless you want your apartment to smell like raw sewage at least every other day, then stay away from this building. The amenities and location may make it seem like a great rent, but the smell is TOO HARD TO GET OVER. I am sure there are at least a few other units that have the same issues, with management being well aware of complaints on the issue. Yet months later, still no fix. Stay away from this building at all cost.

I personally would avoid this apartment building; management (property manager) often has an attitude and is unprofessional. Also, with this being a pet-friendly apartment, there are often pets where they are not allowed and messes in elevators from pet owners not cleaning up after their pets, leaving it to the busy cleaning staff. Parking may also be an issue due to limited spaces, so if you have a car, you may have to look elsewhere.

Our experience at the Origin has been very mixed. It started off great as Lesley is very responsive and helpful. The worst experiences we have had are when dealing with the property manager. Every time we have had an issue or a question it has been met with attitude from her. This has happened several times over the last three months. She is quick to answer with rudeness and comes off as disrespectful. We have found it to be a much better experience working with the assistant property manager as he tries to understand first before responding. Overall the communication from staff is very poor and needs to be improved. I would be cautious about making this your living experience.
