Koreatown is a vibrant LA neighborhood fille with hidden gems, bars, eateries, and a collision of cultures. As the name suggests, the atmosphere in Koreatown is heavily influenced by Korean culture. The neighborhood is a favorite destination among foodies city-wide for its endless selection of authentic Korean restaurants, but the community has a much more diverse character than that: the broad range of cultural influences is exemplified in landmarks like the synagogue and contemporary art gallery of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple, the Latin fusion cuisine of Roy Choi’s restaurants, and the popular German/Korean/Hawaiian tinged gastropub, Biergarten.
Although the area is a hot spot for LA residents’ day trips, Koreatown is known as one of the best places to live in LA. Most locals rent their homes and enjoy parks, coffee shops, and stores within walking distance of their apartments.

Property Ratings at NEXEN
Management is a disaster. Oversold the parking so now units that were supposed to have parking are locked out. Ignore tenant issues. Do nothing about the mass amounts of dog poo outside the front doors. Area isn't safe to walk around at night for women, there was a couch directly outside the door of the building that someone slept on for a full week. Appliances are also very cheap and don't function properly even though they are new
This is an honest review based on my experience with my building in Koreatown, Nexen. Short version, for people who have regular hour jobs/young families, don’t walk away, RUN. Tripalink is a young growing management company with a lot room to grow. The apartments, nice looking but not at all functional. The walls in my building are paperthin, let me repeat, PAPERTHIN. As a renter who has 7 years renting history, my current building Nexen, is the cheapest build ever. You can HEAR EVERYTHING. Not even the noise but even the normal walking, you can hear every single step. That means, if you sleep before 1am, you will have big problem. My neighbor upstairs, the man is very small (he’s 120lbs tops) but I can hear him stomp every night. I’m writing as of now 12:10am and I couldn’t sleep. So bad I couldn’t share voice recording here but I recorded a ton even with the downstairs neighbor’s very often “Reggaeton” music. So if your work requires less sleep, go for it. We have two kids and our bedtime is 7:30pm, it’s impossible for us to rest. We were relocating to west coast looking for a suburb, found this apartment online and signed 19 months lease for the move, worst decision of the year. The building manager doesn’t do anything but talking with the girl in the leasing office. Everything for him is ok, he’s scared of the rude tenants but if you treat him nicely he will show no respect. He sent me an odd text regarding “noise complaint” against me but we never had loud music nor did hammering work after dark. Someone parked in my parking spot one night and NOTHING was done. No sorry nor text the other tenants or anything. I will have to call my own towing company. But I’m very grateful for the team who’s working endlessly to maintain the building, Azim and Dwayne are the best.
I reached out for more information on this new apartment complex and while I received an initial response from Vicky, she never responded when I asked for more information and to see a floor plan. This raises some red flags to me in terms of responsiveness and management, so be warned before you sign a lease here…
