Summit is a small suburban city positioned about 25 miles west of Manhattan along Interstate 78. The close proximity to New York is ideal for commuters, especially with rail service available from Downtown. The local schools perform exceptionally well and the crime rate is among the lowest in the state, making Summit one of the most desirable communities in the region for folks raising families. Rentals range from neighborhood homes to budget-friendly apartments and condos.
The charming Downtown district is loaded with popular locally-owned businesses, from eclectic coffeehouses to international bistros to unique specialty shops, often housed in beautifully preserved historic storefronts. The city offers ample opportunities to spend quality time outdoors, with the massive Watchung Reservation to the south and Canoe Brook Country Club to the north, plus countless parks and nature preserves nearby.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at New England Village
We moved to Summit because of it's easier path into the city a few years back, and looked at a bunch of garden apartment communities in town. We chose NEV and it was a great choice. We had a 2 bed / 2 bath that always gave us a lot of space. The high rating here is really the pride the team has in the property, always maintaining everything from waste removal to snow removal, to landscaping very thoroughly. Whenever we did have a maintenance issue in the 3 years we lived there, we contacted Armand and they always immediately had someone over to take care of it - extremely responsive. The only drawback for us was parking - there are garages you can rent, but we have 2 SUVs which didn't fit. It's only an issue when you come home later, you sometimes have difficulty finding a spot. Other than that, we were extremely happy in our 3 years there and highly recommend this apartment community for anyone looking to live in Summit (15 minute walk into town and to the train station). They can expect spacious living spaces, well-maintained property, and an extremely responsive staff.
Close to the train station. Close to Mom. Close to the malls. Close to friends. Two bedrooms and a garage. I am a USAF veteran and a former teacher and I am very humbled and grateful to have this apartment. My students will tell you that I always said to dream big and stay humble. It's the best way to be and so very true. Thank you for this chance to enter your sweepstakes. I hope I win. :)
I moved into an updated 2 bedroom recently - and having looked at almost 20 other apartments in the Summit/Chatham/New Providence area, this property really stood out. With a great floor plan, new cabinets, bathrooms, beautiful floors and a large kitchen with stainless appliances - I knew immediately that this was the place. There is also a pool, with a lifeguard, on the property - which is a terrific perk for the warm summer months. And the short walk to the Summit train station makes for commuting to NYC as easy as it gets. The management and maintenance staff are truly professional, responsive and friendly. Save yourself some time and come visit New England Village first... you will be glad that you did.
