Gastonia, located just west of Charlotte, combines historic charm with contemporary living. The city's rental market remains budget-friendly, with one-bedroom apartments averaging $1,183 per month and showing modest annual increases around 3%. Housing options span from renovated properties in downtown to newer communities in established neighborhoods like Forestbrook and Gardner Park. Outdoor recreation enthusiasts will find Crowders Mountain State Park's hiking trails and rock climbing areas just minutes away, while the Schiele Museum of Natural History offers educational exhibits and houses a planetarium.
Downtown Gastonia continues to grow, as local businesses occupy restored historic buildings throughout the district. The restored Loray Mill Historic District now serves as a mixed-use development with distinctive apartment homes. The city's economic stability is anchored by CaroMont Regional Medical Center, while the FUSE District adds entertainment venues to the downtown area.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Mills Creek
Lived at Mills Creek for one year. Michelle and Destiny, in the leasing office, were very attentive, knowledgeable, professional, and very friendly. They did an excellent job coordinating any repair requests that arose. I would highly recommend this property. I relocated from the area which was the reason for moving. There’s also shopping and restaurants within walking distance. MW
I recently moved into Mills Creek Apartments. First of all, the staff here is very HELPFUL! Destiny, the leasing consultant, is very helpful and very kind as well. She made the process of moving in extremely easy and made sure everything was perfect before move in. I can tell you she is doing a good job! Furthermore, the maintenance is super fast. Finally, the apartment itself is so nice and clean! This is a safe and quiet place to live.
I just renewed my lease for 15 months after signing a 12 month last year. The community is quiet, the office staff is very friendly, the location is convenient. The pool and grounds are always well maintained and anytime I've ever had a problem, maintenance has responded quickly. I love that the staff encourages us to have fun, they're always serving up snow comes or having a fun contest for the residents, makes it feel like home.
I love it here other than staffing. The only office staff I like is out on leave and boy do I miss her. She is the only one that has that great personality. They have hired a new girl and she is just STUPID!!!!!! I dont see how they let her run the office by herself she is that bad off. I would love to see the girl out on leave as the property manager. Office staff is part of the reason I moved here. We had an awesome manager leave and now my leasing agent is out. BRING HER BACK AS MANAGER PLEASE!!
I moved into this property on May 31, 2017. My experience thus far has been a living nightmare! Upon taking this first floor apartment with some reservations; I had to get the refrigerator replaced; I had to get the wall switches in the Master bedroom fixed; i had to get the guest bathroom towel bar put on the wall; I had to get the livingroom ceiling fan placed to the ceiling properly; I had to get the patio storage room sprayed for mold; the seal around the front door replaced (and still need work); i had to get the old thermostat replaced; i had to get a wall fish to put the coaxial unit in the wall so i could get cable; and the worst of all I have mildew growing in the bathtub in the guest bathroom.
The apartment that I have at Mills Creek is really nice large living room quiet area. They have good schools in the area. The people are nice and helpful sometime.
This place has welcomed my family into their community with open arms. I have felt at home since the moment I began the application. They were friendly during the entire application process and once I moved in they had different care packages throughout the apartment for an easier transition. For example, they had a roll of tissue, a plunger, and even some air freshener for my new apartment. They made moving easy and simple. They have easy ways to pay your rent which include online payments. The community is comforting and safe. This was exactly what me and my family needed as we transitioned. Denitra
Beautiful and convenient complex. Management and maintenance are quick and reliable with any problems you run into. Great place for any age or family. This is my first apartment alone and I am a student. They have made me very comfortable.
Complex has newer and older buildings. I chose the older building because it has character. Wood burning fireplaces, wood cabinets, covered patios and the layout is great. Ample closets and storage. There is a club house, well maintained pool, play area for children and the grounds are kept. The staff and maintenance are very nice. There is ample parking. Been here 3 years and love it! Nice area. Right in the middle of everything. Grocery, drug stores, etc. within walking distance. Excellent schools in area. Moderately priced, but you get what you pay for. I recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to live!
Very quiet neighborhood. Apartment staff is very nice and efficient at getting repairs done. Quick drive to places. Apartments are huge, and walk in closets were big enough to use as an office. Only downfall is they needed to update appliances they were very old. Other than that they are wonderful.
Well where do i start, I could begin with the staff at just a call away always ready to come help at a moments notice from fixing the pluming, or installing water taps to save on our bills. We have what we need in walking distance from grocery shopping, restaurants and even a gym. Its right in the middle of some great school districts and if you have pets or just want to get the family out for a day of fun their is a park down the road with areas to have cookouts, you can play any sport you may like with their many different fields and the kids have a giant play ground to run to their hearts content.
