Property Ratings at Midland Terrace
I have been counting down the days to the end of my lease since October. I have had endless problems with these apartments. Starting in October when all of the bathtubs on the first floor filled with sewage overnight, sat in the tub for hours and when finally drained left nasty specks of waste all over the tub that we were left to clean on our own even though it was a biohazard. I have had multiple packages stolen with no remorse or apology from the leasing office. BUGS everywhere. Spiders, beetles, centipedes, silverfish, box elder bugs. The hallways are disgusting and covered in stains and clumps of hair and garbage. The building is horribly maintained and falling apart yet for some reason in the year that I’ve been here they have re-paved the parking lots three times. They contract with a towing company even though the parking lots are 90% empty all the time. Tow truck comes in the middle of the night and wanders around the parking lot looking into people’s windows with a flashlight. It’s incredibly violating and predatory. To top it all off, they’re raising the rent and no longer including utilities in rent while offering zero amenities to justify the cost of the units. Overall disgusting place to live and I have genuinely hated every minute of being here.
Realistically the only complaint I have is the fact that there will no longer be permit-less parking as of the 1st of the year. Open guest parking was the main deciding factor of choosing Midland last year when I moved in. Initially, I could have my partner, family and friends over when ever and park in front of my patio (still leaving plenty of spots open for my neighbors and their guests). Now I have to worry about getting temp parking passes for my guests ahead of time and during office hours that does not align with my work schedule. Towing fees are not cheap. Other than the parking situation, Its an OK apartment complex. Better area than Saint Paul and the rest of the inner city. The apartment itself is OK. Older kitchen modeling and older carpet. Definitely gives the basics which is what I can afford and am OK with. Its the "cheaper" option between the surrounding apartments ($1200 and up). If the parking stayed the same and we got some new carpet or cabinets, Midland would get a 5 star (for the price).
I love this apartment complex and I love the area. Management has been so kind and helpful. They reply to maintenance issues and other questions quickly. I have been living here for almost a year and I am going to renew the lease for another year. I would definitely recommend.
When my husband and I were in the need of a home right away midland terrace was on it. We have been here all together for about 7 or 8 years and love it. Management is great, every time I needed something fixed or replaced management made sure that maintance was on it rightaway and I am greatful for that.
I have lived here for two years. It has been a good apartment for my husband and I starting out. It is pretty basic, no frills. We haven't had any negative experiences and management is good. The walls are soundproof and we rarely hear anyone else in our building. The workout room was recently redone and is pretty nice. I wish the parking lot was lit.
Midland terrace is a decent place to start off. It has everything I needed with a place to start off with. I have been there for almost a year but once my lease is up, I will be moving on. This place is some what dark feeling. My only complaint would be how the heat is controlled. I have to leave my heat on because if I don't, the pipes will burst. Also, with leaving them open, my apartment get too hot for me and I end up opening my windows and patio door in the dead of winter. I will be looking for a place with a washer and dryer in the units and a building with a sprinkler system from now on since there is smokers in some buildings.
My first and very own home. I love the environment, the care taker, the managers and especially the neighborhood. It makes me feels safe and it feels like home.
I have lived here going on 4 years and experienced $80 in rent increases. The pictures on the website definitely do not match what you rent unless you desire to pay more. Poor management as nothing is done about the noise level with complaints ignored and weekly nasty grams are delivered. Maintenance is pretty good but slow in snow removal & lawn care. Pets are welcome and nice neighbors. Easy access to metro area, shopping, and restaurants. Shoreview is a lovely community.
I have viewed an apartment and will be moving in at the end of this month. I think Kat has been wonderful! She is quick to answer our questions and has been very helpful and understanding.
