History

The first settlers began to arrive in Mayfield in 1805, building a school and homes in the area and leading to the founding of the city in 1819. Old trails were transformed into roads to accommodate the transportation of goods by 1832. The Cleveland & Eastern Railway was chartered to build an electric railroad from Chardon to Cleveland in 1897, soon transforming the town into the prosperous community seen today.

Mayfield Township Historical Society and Museum provides a captivating view of the town's journey to success.
