Mayfair Apartments

I recently moved into this apartment, and so far, my experience has been great. The unit was clean and move-in ready, the building is well-maintained, and the management team has been responsive and helpful. The neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located near everything I need. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free living experience.

The Mayfair personnel are all caring and competent.

I like the neighborhood, however the elevators have been down many times. The building is old so expect things to break down. The on site management is great. I will miss Pasqual. Hopefully the new maintenance person is as good.

Needs updates to residents hallways, they are poorly lit, new paint ad carpet would enhance the building.

Just know the building is old and things break. In the beginning I wasn’t happy about a lot. The property mgr and maintenance person are awesome and they make living here better by handling problems efficiently,

The internet price is too expensive. The advertised price of xfinity is 30$ We are forced to pay 50$

I love living here because it is convenient and next to everything. The units can use some upgrades but overall it’s nice to live there.

Mayfair apartments is a really nice building and in a great location. The only issue I have is the rent. It's high, but overall I really like living here.

Very convenient location near shops, transportation, and the lake. Nice views in all directions. Relatively large rooms. Classic architectural style. On-site laundry and parking lot are also convenient. Occasional plumbing and elevator problems typical of older buildings.

Overall, Mayfair has been a comfortable, warm throughout the winter and safe residence for my family. Being an older building in Hyde Park, you can expect older building issues. The on-site management is precise, intentional, thorough and invested in residents. Her smile lessens your worry and she makes Mayfair feel like a home!

Quiet place to live: with respectful neighbors.

I enjoy my experience here at The Mayfair apartments. My only concern is with the plumbing issue , and the annual rent increase that I learned about in the renewal of my lease. Staff and maintenance is appreciated and professional. My only criticism is plumbing.

I really like living here at the Mayfair. It's a really great location for catching the buses and it's walking distance from all of the stores. We're close to the lake and several parks too. The maintenance staff are friendly and will complete requests pretty quickly.

Great location, and easy access to public transportation. Additionally, Lakeshore Drive is two blocks south of the building, which is Awesome! The Mayfair Apartments have two elevators (1) Freight and (1) Passenger. This is extremely convenient and appreciated by all. Work requests are quickly and efficiently completed with professionalism. The laundry room has recently received all New machines (6) washers and (6) dryers which has stirred up enthusiasm among the community! I really enjoy the secured lockers for deliveries. I have real peace of mind knowing that my packages are safe and secured. The staff is courteous and the building is kept clean. It's calming returning to the Mayfair Apartments after a hard day's work!

I am a new tenant in Mayfair Apartments. So far, I am enjoying my stay here. The location is very convenient when it comes to public transportation, groceries and restaurants. My issues and my concerns with my unit during my move are addressed by Sierra- the property Manager on timely manner. She’s doing her job well.

The manager here is professional, caring, friendly, and hard working. I always feel she (Sierra) takes my issues seriously and ensures they get taken care of properly. The maintenance crew are also friendly, competent, and helpful. I greatly appreciate them all. Thank you.

The Mayfairs are great for students and first time renters. Neighbors are mostly friendly and everything is walking distance if you don’t feel like driving or losing a good street park??. The building is old so some things are inevitable but it appears the new management are working to get it done.

The property manager is attentive to the needs of the tenants, and I do feel a level of safety here at the Mayfair. The rent though is extremely high!!

It is located extremely conveniently - close to the bus station, some grocery stores, and the metra. The building is generally maintained well and the studio apartment here is nice, with a nice kitchen area. The response to service requests is prompt and the management is generally helpful.

There are several reasons to reside at Mayfair. Friendly staff, clean lobby, responsive onsite management, quick repair service, excellent heat, safety, convenient shopping and travel and an overall friendly community.

Nothing ever works as intended. Elevator is constantly down, constant plumbing issues with water backing up and/or leaking, homeless people in the lobby, and half of the washer and dryers are always down. At one point the laundry room, elevator, and lobby call box were all down at once. The location is great but it's not worth the headache. Management does very little to actually solve the issue.

Be aware that the people you schedule the appointment with aren't actually the people onsite. they're just a customer service number. I showed up and there was no response from the leasing office, and that same customer service number was utterly useless in assisting me. There was also one other person there complaining about the same thing and they were there before me waiting even longer. Very unprofessional..

Mayfair is an excellent place for living. I would say, it has one of the best locations in Hyde Park. Tons of restaurants, supermarkets, and salons are within 10 min walking distance. Management is also responsive and helpful.

Mayfair is an excellent place to reside. I have resided with other management companies in Hyde Park and I must say...MayfairTLC is hands down the most professional and thorough property.management company. I love the location of this property. The units are a little outdated, but are a nice size. The community is nice to live in.

I love living here. The location is perfect, the staff are competent and the residents are friendly, overall.

I love living at Mayfair. The people are friendly and the staff is competent and kind. There are two irritating issues, however. The elevator breaks down too frequently and often the laundry machines are not all working.

The Property Manager & maintenance actually care to resolve any issue that may arise as soon as possible. This preserves our dignity because we are heard. I had an issue yesterday near closing time. I called the office, Denise pleasantly and patiently listened and ensured me that the emergency would be resolved. Shortly thereafter, maintenance was at my door informing me that it had been handled and if there was anything more needed. I was very grateful and appreciative for their due diligence. Living here is awesome. The building is well kept, clean and operational. The building is secured, the parcels are secured which makes me feel secure. The smiles are very much welcomed from management & maintenance. We all could use the comfort it brings. Thank you Mayfair Staff!

Wednesday near closing, I called the office regarding an issue within my apartment. The Property Manager Denise listened carefully and assured me that it would be handled. Shortly thereafter, maintenance resolved the issue and knocked on my door to ask if there was anything more needed. I Greatly appreciated the service. I'm proud to be apart of a community that truly cares about the residents within their charge. We are heard and we are honored here at The Mayfair Apartments.

I enjoy the Mayfair. The location is Awesome. The building is secure, the parcels are secured in lockers and there is a laundry room. Maintenance is reliable and the management hours are idea. The Apartments are nice. The rates are affordable. I'm very satisfied with the Mayfair and like to remain a resident here for as long as I'm abled.

Great location with all the amenities and shopping stores in the vicinity. Super safe neighborhood and the staff is quite helpful and cordial. Maintenance personnel are punctual and try to help as much as possible

I have lived at Mayfair for almost six years and I plan to stay. The staff are very professional and kind. I enjoy the residents. The location is great.

I love to live at The Mayfair Apartments. The big windows means that I can have many indoor plants. The people are friendly and helpful to each other. I like the fact that there is a small lounge where I can go if I need some company. Finally, the location is perfect: close to public transportation, close to a small shopping center and close to the lake. I love it here.

I love living at Mayfair for several reasons: 1. There are many windows for my plants. 2. I like the lounge where people can visit. 3. I like the location and the bus service that is right here. 4. The office manager and maintenance staff are very friendly and helpful. 5. I feel safe in the building. 5.

You pay a whole lot of money for a tiny space with no updates appliances. I understand this is Hyde Park but it definitely isn’t worth the amount you pay for a building like this with such low quality. You will always get stuck in the elevator and the elevator always breaks. And then you have to use the freight elevator that people leave open on their floor and then you’ll have to walk up the stairs to your apartment, how does the 10th floor sound? Exactly. So all and all not happy just have no choice because of a lease. Not recommended.

Early morning commutes via bus and 'L' on the South side and then late night coummutes back home from downtown was overwhelming. For me, Mayfair Apartments is an ideal location. This locale is convient to major public transportation routes and other special or private transportation options like the campus shuttles, CTA/U. of C., Livery Cab or limousens services to Midway Airport. Via Metra rail the Loop/home is a leisuly and affordable 20 min. ride. Entertainment, shopping, dining, culutral and recreational destinations are also easily accesible and within walking distances. The Mayfair is a 12-story, 95 unit, smoke-free building. This TLC managed property was previously a vintage hotel and is situated on the tree-line boulevard in East Hyde Park. My apartment includes heating and appliances. It has a walk-in closet, ceiling fan and is cable ready. A bike room, on-site laundry facility and free Wi-Fi hot space is available in the lobby area 24/7 for use by tenants. Extra fees are charged for pets and off-street parking The common lobby area is kept neat and clean. However, serious attention needs to be given to the drab and dimly lighted hallways. The freight elevator's doors are heavy and the gated door is too cumbersome to maneuver with packages in hand. The stairwells need more than a cursory cleaning. Maintenance request and other tenant concerns are handled in an efficient and professional manner by the current leasing manager, Linley Thomas. The on-site building maintenance personnel, Sam Trujillo is skilled and courteous. Unlike the majority of managed rental properties in the community, Mayfair does not offer incentives for long-term tenancy nor discounted rates for veterans, seniors, teachers or students. Vacancies consistently peak and drop with the University of Chicago's enrollment and commencement dates.

I currently live here and must say I love that I have so much closet space. The building itself is an older building but that is what adds to its character. We have onsite management and maintenance. I've lived here for a few years and have never felt cramped in my apartment. If you need something, someone is there to answer your questions or get back to you relatively soon. I have recommended this place to a few friends and have a friend moving in next month. And it is always quiet.

I like my apartment size, but there are amenity issues. In the bathroom, there is no counter top of any kind around the sink or any storage space in the bathroom. The toilet is the old style kind without a tank. Nice big bathtub/shower. In the small lobby, the resident's common area is the open space directly adjacent to the front door. There is free Wifi in the lobby that a number of residents use to babysit their little kids/get them out of their apartments. It's not unusual to find little kids surfing the net and talking loud at midnight. The common areas have lovely old wood work that is dusty/dirty/scratched and never polished. Chairs circle the common space so it looks like a doctor's waiting room. There is a super large, overpowering fake flower arrangement that NEVER gets cleaned or changed. The laundry room door is visible from the main entrance door. The laundry room is always filthy. The elevators have gone out 3 times in a year. The location has it's good and bad points. The building is very close to Lake Michigan and the air outside stays fresh and cool.
