It is great to live in if affiliated with the University of Chicago or if you have a car and want to live in a quiet suburban-like neighborhood of Chicago. Otherwise, you are too disconnected from the rest of the city if using public transportation in that neighborhood.

It is overall very safe. There is access to pretty much everything that you need. There is increased security because of the university.

I love the diversity and it is my home stomping ground. The Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Chicago are located there. It is right next to Lake Michigan and gets the breeze off the lake and it has good access to downtown.
