Thanks to some odd geography, Maplewood has something of a split personality. This first-ring St. Paul suburb can be described as being shaped like a frying pan. The main business and residential area lies primarily to the north and east of St. Paul, while the chief amenities, such as the community center and an indoor mall, lie in the "pan." South Maplewood, or the "pan handle," runs south along Interstate 494 and has fewer business amenities. Residents of this area tend to shop in bordering Woodbury, since it takes a good half hour to get from the southern tip of Maplewood to the main northern business district.
Meanwhile, Oakdale lies between the two sections, just east of Maplewood's pan handle and north of Woodbury. This young suburb is a quiet bedroom community with a scattering of business districts. Cornfields make up its eastern portion, giving the area a distinctly rural vibe, even though it's just 10 minutes outside of downtown St. Paul.

The Maplewood community has made me and my children feel welcome and safe nice environment a lot of good people and overall has been a great place to live
Surroundings are beautiful, but inside our apartment needs a lot of updates. I think the building was built in 1971, explaining the outdated interior. They upgraded the hallway with new carpet and wall paint though. You cannot trust anybody outside.
I love the peace inside the building.No noise,no kids running in the hallway.It’s peaceful
I have been a resident for over four years. I see improvements. I'm looking forward to seeing serious improvements with our garages. Too many broken locks and walk through break ins. Hopefully, we residents will be able to protect our personal belongings and cars soon.

My experience with moving to maplewood apartments was very unsatisfactory. I’m not happy with my decision to move here because the things that are unsatisfactory are things that management and maintenance should have been aware of because the apartment has been vacant since January according to management and I moved in June 1st.
A good place to be with workers who listen to concerns with a humane ear.
Maplewood Apartments are a great place to live. Being retired, I see constant changes that make me very happy I chose to live out my life here. I have no plans to change my living status.

Maplewood Apartments are a great place to live as retired persons. Quiet, clean, and we'll managed. Thanks to Sam our manager.
The staff, both office management and maintenance are friendly and knowledgeable. When presented with an issue or concern it is usually handled quickly and professionally. My only real issue with Maplewood apartments is fellow community members who don't seem to value or respect the grounds and security of their fellow members, e.g. leaving trash in non designated areas, leaving security doors propped open and unattended for extended amounts of time.

Carpet not cleaned before moving in, rodent issue, work orders not complete bad attitude staff
The neighbors, staff and management are the nicest people and extremely helpful.
The staff is nice when you get a hold of them, they are always take work orders, you just never get an update or a call back on when your issue will be taken care of. at this moment the things that i was told would be worked on after move in have not been touched or talked about, so yeah.

Nice apartment buildings. Maintenance is efficient if you have any problems. The office at Maplewood apartments is not the greatest on communication and getting things done. The main goldmark office is.
10 years ago this used to be a beautiful place to live. Lots of geese and deer. Green rolling lawns that your kids could play on. But over the years and the people who li e here now...have lots of barking dogs at night. Wildlife are gone. People smoking pot the smell comes thru the walls and floors and yelling and fighting in the halls. Laundry rooms not cleaned properly especially with covid 19 around. Sidewalks not shoveled or salted for residents safety. It has sadly gone down hill here. This apartment community really needs updated appliances for what residents are paying for rent. Like I said....this used to be a very beautiful, wonderful place to live.

DO NOT LIVE HERE! Cars are broken into or vandalized if not in eye sight of the building, there are no cameras, pool was closed for a month or more, and it is not a safe place to live.
Only live here if its your last resort. Parking here is nearly impossible to find and your valuables may get stolen so make sure to lock your car twice or even three times. If youre looking for a place with actual laundry facilities, this may not be the one. Washers and dryers here dont do their job. Property manager here barely answers emails and phone calls.
Sam was very nice and helpful, she was able to answer all my questions, she was honest and thorough with the move in process. The surrounding area of the apartments are nice, the apartment buildings are in decent condition as well as the apartment itself.
My experience with the Maplewood apartment is not the best due to people always litering, dog being unleash, peoples stealing packages, poor management, getting ignore for complaining too much about the things I see and overall they need to improve more on helping resident and communicate better.
Side doors always broken, potholes everywhere in parking lot, very old deteriorating garages.
Horrible, no security, smells, court yards dirty, neighbors are horrible

I love it at Maplewood Apartments. The apartment itself is so spacious and the rent is very appropriate. I love that I can have a cat too! It's so quiet here and all of my guests always say the same thing. I would recommend living here. Management is amazing. They will work with you on anything that you need. Neidra has gone above and beyond for me.
Couldn't be happier my girlfriend and I were able to sign just a 6-month lease because the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is cause I know there's worse out there but not by much. There are 2 types of people that live here: people that, for one reason or another, can't go anywhere else and people that deserve much better but wound up here basically by accident, like me and my girlfriend. Neitra may seem nice enough as a property manager but if she’s not downright incompetent on her own then her corporate overlords are what is holding her back from lifting a finger to make this place even slightly more liveable. Maintenance? There is none. They literally just ignore everything that is falling apart until it goes too far and someone’s apartment ends up getting flooded or half the power in your unit quits. They couldn’t even prepare our unit for us to move in properly (they literally painted over most of our power outlets rendering them useless and requiring replacements). On top of all thi, roads, parking lots, and garages are all VERY VISIBLY falling apart. No matter what happens though, they will not discount your rent or even pretend to apologize. Security? Also none! No cameras inside or out anywhere apart from the office. There are barely any lights that also have a strange tendency to just not turn on some nights leaving the parking lots and even the entryways completely dark. The storage lockers aren’t even safe as I’ve received one or two emails saying there were break-ins in the 6 months I’ve been living here. Throw on noisy neighbors and the hallways always having strange smells and the only thing I’d say that’s missing is a pest problem which, to my knowledge, thankfully, Maplewood Apartments does not have. All in all, do yourself a favor. If you think Maplewood Apartments is a candidate for you to move into, keep looking until you're certain there's nowhere better but there almost certainly is. The only thing Goldmark is interested in is harvesting your money and making no improvements upon or even maintaining the condition of the complex. Don’t even waste your money on an application here.
I love living here! It's unbelievably affordable and Neitra went above and beyond to work with me. She was is so professional and so kind. The property is quiet and the people are nice. I feel very blessed to have found this place.

Took days before fixing coming to fix my sink. I had to call multiple times. Overall they did a great job.

Nice place to live but the office staff is being switched around too much too fast. For the last 7 months I've heard maintenance is only doing emergency work.
You don't want my opinion. Its decent but kind of a dump needs to be fixed up better.
Too much crime and break ins
I know Maplewood relatively well. It has its good areas and it's, shall we say not so great areas. Maplewood apartments seems to be in an ideal location for this area of the suburbs.

Maplewood is a decent apartment complex in a truly beautiful area. It is conveniently located as well. The living experience isn't great, although perhaps not horrible either. Rent is high and increases every year, and maintenance clearly can not keep up with demand. It is relatively safe though.
