Ive lived here for over ten years.
I've lived here for over ten years, I've seen all the reviews and I think people exajerate. I have never had any problems with any one and all work I needed done in my apartment was properly done. I love to see happy kids play outside in the summer,we see life and we see that children love to be outside instead of the new generation that love video games. The complex has improved, little by little new thing get remodeled. For example the sidewalks were recently refinished and I personally heard people complaining that work and noise was being done, so how are thing going to be improved, in quiet mode. I love it here, there is life, its well maintained, plenty of parking, and people who complain is because they don't have better things to do.
Terrible worst apartment complex
1: Parking area always horrible unless you pretend to be handicap and then you get a permanent spot with a cone. Neighbors always to nosey, always peeking out the windows ! Uncomfortable feeling. Apartment wall and ceiling cracking. Roach problem , winter time heat constantly breaks everyday all day. A lot of the residents their are either weirdos or crazy.. never able to mind their own business "gossip"!' Maintenance guys always stare @ me wen walking to my vehicle, I know I am very good looking women 34 years of age and it still feel good but very uncomfortable and creepy ...I suggest to everyone to get a private home and live much more comfortable then this dump ..
I work at Mather and St. Charles hospitals and figured this place would be ideal because it's right in the middle. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I have to say about the place. Leading up to move-in, I was told that the place would be cleaned and repainted, etc. FALSE. The carpet was so disgusting that I had to live elsewhere for a week while that was "cleaned." Still stains everywhere. The deck was smeared in mud and dirt for several months. Upon speaking to the property manager, Joe, I was so kindly informed that he was under no obligation to clean it. This place is understaffed and poorly managed, and nothing is done in a timely fashion. If I were to accidentally lock myself out, I can guarantee I'd be stuck for at least 3 or 4 days. AVOID AVOID AVOID. These guys are a bunch of scumbags.
The other reviewers are entitled cry-babies, don't listen
This is still a very nice apartment complex. The previous manager was more hands-on than the current one, but these reviews are crazy. Over entitled Long Island crybabies, why don't you just go BUY A HOUSE if you are so sensitive? Oh wait, you can't! OMG, there are CHILDREN PLAYING outside in the summer! What a travesty. Go to the retirement community. The worst part of this complex are people like the ones reviewing here. Everything else is pretty cool. When people say it's not "as it was," that is a thinly coded way of saying that a few families of color live here now. Trust me, they are not the problem.
Overall the apartments are nice. The location is perfect, especially to the bus route and both St Charles and Mather hospitals. ALthough the apartment was "renovated" prior to moving in, the condition of the 50 year old complex needs some work. "Upgrading" can only take it so far when the walls and ceiling continually crack throughout and the doors fly open.
I have lived here far too long and I can't stand it. The only thing that's causing me to stay here is because my job is 10 minutes away from here and I don't like to drive more than I have to when it comes to commuting to a job. I cannot stand the superintendent and the loudness/ruckus coming from his unit. He is supposed to be looking out for, respectful, helpful to every tenant living here, including me and he does NOT display any of those factors listed above. Every situation that I have personally had involving work done in my unit was ridiculous. Need to contact him 2 or 3 times to just bring it to his attention. His ability to want to do work is pathetic. He always sends one of the other maintenance employees to do all work needed in my unit. Parking sucks here as well if you don't get home at an early hour you will deff NOT get a spot in front of your units set of doors. If you are thinking of moving here my best advice is DONT. You will hate it as I do as well as plenty of other people who currently live here as well I'm sure.
Completely Disgusting Place To Call a Residence
This apartment complex has turned into a war zone to live in. It was normal in the beginning when I had first moved in and now that I have lived here several years I completely dislike it. The past few months right around the time when the summer of 2015 started, it has been a very disappointing and disturbing place to call a home. The man who is known as the super plus the other men who are known as the maintenance workers have made it very uncomfortable and intimidating just to walk in and out of my front door to get in and out of my car because of the fact that they stop what they are doing to just stare at me walking by for a lengthy amount of time until I physically get into my car and drive out of the complex. Many of my immediate neighbors living around me have also made it very unpleasant to live here as well with the fact that they are extremely nosy watching me from the windows when I am getting home and still outside in my car they are always there and they GOSSIP way too much for grown adults. Plus also the fact that many young children live here with their parents and I always hear the children when they are playing or running around outside being extremely loud and noisy and they don't know how to stay in control of themselves. I would highly recommend to anyone who is thinking of looking for a normal place to live this complex is definitely NOT the place to choose!
Not like it was
kids run wild all the time ever since new super took over. Anything goes now. Bicycles skateboards soccer balls motorized kids vehicles. It is a loud disfunctional complex now. If peace is what you want don't come here.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
Constant turnover of maintenance staff in last year has led to major problems with snow removal and general upkeep of property. Unresponsive to requests for repair in a timely fashion. Drive past here and see that this place is falling into shambles. The cracking of the walls and the tiny windows are a real issue as Bear posted. Hey, you get what you pay for.
This complex desperately needs an ADULT maintenance staff instead of the uncaring children that manage it now. They seem to answer to no one but themselves and seem to think they are here to socialize instead of maintaining the complex for us tenants. I have lived in many communities and have never seen the maintenance workers smoke cigarettes and gossip with the tenants like this. It is just very unprofessional and you can see that things aren't getting done because of it. The lack of caring here is evident by all the vacant units lately. This place is crying for some adult management.

City - Port Jefferson
The sleepy village of Port Jefferson comes to life during the warm summer months as seasonal residents and tourists flock there to enjoy all it has to offer. Its location on the Long Island Sound along a sheltered harbor, just a short commute to either New York City or Connecticut's Fairfield County, makes it a popular place to spend a quiet afternoon or long weekend enjoying the water or shopping at some of the charming boutiques that dot the village. This affluent community covers only 3 square miles of the city of Brookhaven along Long Island's north shore, yet has a population of roughly 8,000 full-time and seasonal residents, providing a small-town feel in a setting that's just a stone's throw from the largest city in the United States.
