Downtown Gastonia continues to grow, as local businesses occupy restored historic buildings throughout the district. The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Loray Mill Lofts
This property has been such a stressful place to live. I’ve had a maintenance request in for over a month and there still hasn’t been any progress on the issue. On top of that there was a leak in the walls that has caused mold to become present and I’ve put in a request to get it looked at with no response or urgency to the situation at all. The staff doesn’t communicate anything and there’s nothing else appealing about the complex to justify the price.
Nothing is properly maintained anymore and rent just keeps going up, not worth it for the price.
I'm a current resident in the building. I moved in back in 2015. Overall, I'm very happy living here. My apartment is nice, and maintenance does what it can to keep things up and running. The amenities are really nice, and the community likes to have get togethers in the community room and outside at the pool. They also have a small historical venue where visitors and residents alike, can view the history of the mill. The mill is also conveniently located near US 321, I-85, Garrison and Franklin Blvds, the Gastonia Police Department - West satellite office, the Gaston County Board of Elections office, Samarth Plaza, and gets delivery from Dominoes, Marcos Pizza, Outback, and several other restaurants. The community room is great for those that choose not to get cable in their apartment, or want to play video games or pool, with others. There's also a small snack bar with a mini-fridge, ice-maker, keurig machine (although the coffees and teas need to be stocked by the main office), microwave, and a sink. The gym is also a great facility - lots of free weights and equipment to use, as well as a yoga room, and a smaller exercise room. It's got two huge locker rooms with full shower facilities. The staff at the gym (Loray Athletic Club), are knowledgeable and very friendly. They're also very accommodating, because they want everyone to feel welcome at the gym. My only complaints are the fact that: Despite the building being a smoke-free building, some residents still smoke in their apartmentscausing the smell to move to other units. Furthermore, the pool area, intended for residents only, is used by the public; main office needs to police this better. Also, the maintenance staff is far too small to handle 190 units, creating a backlog of maintenance requests. I'm also a little frustrated at the fact that the realty company responsible for leasing the store spaces (which is NOT the leasing office's responsibility) has rented only one store space. We're still waiting on Growler USA to open its doors (now almost a year behind schedule). All in all, despite it's problems, Loray Mill is a great place to live. I'm getting ready to renew my lease for a 3rd year. I definitely recommend this place.
When we moved in we were excited about the amenities and what the future held. We loved the loft apartment and the industrial feel of the building. We were told that the second elevator would be up and running two weeks after we moved in, however six months later it was still not being used. Several of our neighbors had their vehicles broken into, one that we know of had his vehicle stolen from the lot. Unfortunately the common areas were not being kept clean and the one elevator in use was never clean. We were also assured that the residential areas were off limits to the public, however that was not enforced. We only stayed about six months, we paid to terminate our lease and move out. The apartments are way over priced and management is not concerned about keeping residents happy. We could never get truthful answers to questions about the second elevator or the prospect of shops moving in, we did see the rapid decline of the care of the grounds and building. It's a shame, it could have been a nice place.
Not worth the price, the area is trashy, the quality of tenants is rather mixed. There have been break ins in the parking lot and even the office it's self. There is only 1 small elevator to move all your stuff in while other residents are using it as well, overall I hate this place.
Gorgeous architecture every where you look. Everything you could possibly want to do under one roof,With more new things to come! who could ask for anything more! Small town feel and close to the BIG City! Can't wait to be able to move in. And let's not even get started on the Resort style amenities????. YOUR DOING IT RIGHT GASTONIA, LORAY MILLS PROJECT ROCKS!!!
