Roughly five miles southwest of Downtown Dallas, Winnetka Heights is the listed on the National Register of Historic Places as one of the largest historic districts in Dallas. Winnetka Heights is filled with Four-Square Prairie and Craftsman houses dating to the early 1900s. The Kessler Theater, located in the north end of the neighborhood, was built in the 1940s as a movie theater. Today, it hosts a variety of musicians and entertainers, and it is available to rent. Other historic buildings include the homes of two original developers, who designed the neighborhood in 1890. Those homes are the J.P. Blake home (now the Oak Cliff Society of the Fine Arts) and the TS Miller Home.
