Area Guide
With its brick-paved streets, ancient oak trees laced with moss, palm trees, and growing arts scene, Tampa Heights is one of Tampa's most-loved neighborhoods -- it is also one of its oldest. Residents seeking a little distance from downtown (less than a mile) settled Tampa Heights in the early 1800s. They could easily reach the city center on foot, making Tampa Heights the ideal first "suburb." Today, Tampa Heights is a National Historic District with an annual Tour of Homes. This artistic, trendy community is experiencing a boom -- more and more businesses are moving to the area, including art galleries, coffee shops, and breweries. And while it is more "downtown" than "suburb," Tampa Heights still manages to provide plenty of natural beauty and old-world charm.
Head to the Hillsborough River on the south side of the neighborhood and enjoy an afternoon at Water Works Park, a riverside water park located along the Tampa Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is a walking trail that follows the river into downtown Tampa and passes by some of the city's most popular attractions, including the Tampa Museum of Art, Rivergate Tower, the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, and the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts. After an afternoon exploring the trail or enjoying the park, stop at Ulele for dinner -- a popular local landmark serving up Floridian-style dishes.

Tampa Heights is the place to live. I drive to and from work but other than that I don't have to use my car. I can walk, uber, or bicycle to all the fun places downtown, in Ybor, Hyde Park, and SoHo. It feels safer and safer each year and the neighbors are friendly.

Blessed to live in this part of Tampa. It has one of the best topography and elevations in Tampa which protected us from flooding during the many hurricanes this past year. Every time you look around there are new houses being flipped and apartment buildings being raised. It's an exciting time to live here and there is always something fun to do.
