Situated about 30 miles south of Chicago, Steger is a predominantly residential suburb with a host of commercial offerings strewn along Chicago Road. Steger residents delight in the village’s small-town atmosphere as well as its convenience to the many metropolitan amenities of Chicago. Neighboring South Chicago Heights and Crete provide plenty of excitement close to home too, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and parks to visit.
Steger is also just east of Governors State University, where the community enjoys access to all kinds of educational opportunities, productions hosted by the Center for the Performing Arts, the integration of art and nature at the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park, and the University Park Metra Station.
