Located about 22 miles south of Chicago’s Loop, South Holland is a scenic village in Thornton Township. South Holland’s history dates back to the 1800s, when the area was first settled by immigrants from the Netherlands. Today, South Holland is regarded for its community values, quiet atmosphere, and natural beauty.

South Holland residents enjoy a broad range of recreational opportunities at many nearby parks, including Veterans Memorial Park, Gouwens Park, and Wampum Lake Woods. The Little Calumet River runs through the village as well, serving as a great fishing spot, as well as a scenic backdrop for hikes and picnics alike.

Although South Holland is largely residential, East 162nd Street is the village’s main commercial thoroughfare, boasting a slew of restaurants, shops, and services in the center of the community.
