Texas Women’s University has been a prestigious and innovative fixture of Texas’ academic community since 1901. The largest university for women in the United States, TWU does also enroll male students, who constitute about twelve percent of the student body. The school is known for graduating more new healthcare professionals than any other university in Texas. The university library contains a massive archive known as the Women’s Collection, which catalogs thousands of books, documents, and photographs, including one of the world’s largest volumes of material on women in aviation. The surrounding community of Denton is a large suburb roughly an hour north of Downtown Dallas. The TWU campus sits just a few blocks north of Downtown, an easy walk anytime you want to stop into Jupiter House for a cup of coffee or have a pint on the front porch of Oak Street Drafthouse.
