Founded by what is now the United Methodist Church in 1911, Southern Methodist University welcomes students of many different religious backgrounds, remaining committed to academic freedom and open inquiry. A nationally ranked private university, SMU offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs through seven schools with small class sizes and hands-on research opportunities.
