Established in 1889, Texas A&M University-Commerce is one of the oldest college campuses in Texas. This public research university is also one of the state's largest college campuses, averaging well over 12,000 students and sitting on 2,203 acres. A&M-Commerce offers 144 programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. As one of the state's smallest college towns, Commerce offers a much more peaceful setting than some of its larger neighbors. Commerce is located about 60 miles northeast of Dallas, with I-30 nearby for easy access to the city. A&M-Commerce is located between Live Oak Street and Culver Street on the southwest side of Downtown Commerce. Sports fans who want to cheer on the Lions football team should look near Memorial Stadium, which is along Frontage Road, north of University Drive.
