MUSC Public Collaborative Innovative Compassionate Research Experiential

Founded in 1824 as the first medical institution in the southern United States, the Medical University of South Carolina continues the tradition of excellence in education, research, and patient care. South Carolina’s only academic health science center and the largest non-federal employer in Charleston, MUSC operates a 700-bed medical center including a nationally recognized children’s hospital, South Carolina’s only transplant center, and more.

Plenty of apartments, townhomes, and houses are available for rent near MUSC’s campus. Close proximity to peninsula neighborhoods such as Harleston Village, Westside, French Quarter, and Hampton Park Terrace ensures easy access to campus. Commuting to campus from farther distances is simple with convenience to the Septima Clark Parkway and I-26 as well.

Campus life at MUSC is defined by access to a number of interprofessional initiatives and support services as well as regular events and co-curricular programs. Many downtown attractions are accessible just off campus, including the Historic Charleston City Market, White Point Garden, Waterfront Park, and several delectable eateries.
