Rutgers University-Camden is one of three Rutgers campuses in New Jersey. Rutgers University began in 1766 as Queen's College. It is the only of the nine Colonial Colleges to become a public university. The Camden campus dates back to 1950, when two small colleges merged with Rutgers. Rutgers University-Camden offers 40 majors in several colleges, including Rutgers Law School. Rutgers-Camden is home to the Scarlet Raptors, who participate in NCAA Division III in several sports, including basketball, soccer, and baseball. Camden is a large city located directly across the Delaware River from Downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The city is very walkable, and the Cooper Street/Rutgers Light Rail Station connects the campus with the Trenton Rail Station and ultimately New York City and Philadelphia. Rutgers University-Camden is located between North 3rd Street and North 5th Street.
