Since its establishment in 1948, Nicholls State University has been one of the landmark institutions of South Louisiana’s academic community. In addition to Nicholls State is home to the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute, where students can earn a bachelor’s degree and MBA in Culinary Arts. Other unique facilities at the university include the Louisiana Center for Women and Government and the Dyslexia Center of Louisiana.
The Nicholls State campus sits on the east side of Thibodaux, less than two miles from Downtown. The city center hosts a popular cluster of bars, restaurants, coffeehouses, and specialty shops, and just across Bayou Lafourche the Warren J. Harang Jr. Mun Auditorium regularly hosts concerts and other big events. When you want to get out of town for a day or a long weekend, New Orleans is just over an hour’s drive to the east, making it highly convenient to hop over to the Big Easy anytime.
