One of the nation’s largest Jesuit institutions, Loyola University Chicago is situated on the banks of Lake Michigan, less than ten miles from the heart of Chicago. Founded in 1870, LUC is consistently ranked among the top universities in the country, offering more than 250 academic programs and certificates. LUC values service to humanity and has been recognized for community service and engagement. Touting an array of sports teams, the Loyola Ramblers compete in NCAA Division I Missouri Valley Conference. Loyola’s Lakeshore Campus is the main undergraduate campus and home to more than 40 buildings, including the College of Arts and Sciences, the Graduate School, and Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. Housing options are plentiful near campus. When searching for an apartment, keep in mind which buildings you’ll be visiting the most. Accommodations on the north side of campus would benefit students and faculty of the Crown Center for Humanities whereas options on the south side of campus would suit those spending ample time in Cuneo Hall.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
