Established in 1849, Central Connecticut State University is the oldest public university in the state as well as one of the most prestigious. The campus occupies the quiet northeast corner of New Britain, a charming, historic New England community in the suburbs of Hartford. The city offers a fair amount of unique attractions not too far from campus: the New Britain Museum of American Art houses the oldest collection of its kind in the United States, and New Britain Stadium at Willow Brook Park hosts minor league baseball games during the summer.
The neighborhood, affectionately known as “Little Poland,” is a great place to find authentic Polish cuisine and hosts the popular Little Poland Festival every spring.
