Historic Attractions University Community Park

Around 1900, Indianapolis' elite moved to palatial mansions along North Meridian Street. Now considered one of the country's "great streets," the North Meridian Street Historic District includes some elaborate homes like the William N. Thompson House. This former governor's mansion was built around 1920. The Meridian Street Foundation, a neighborhood volunteer group, works to support residents with the preservation process and beautification efforts throughout the neighborhood.

North Meridian begins in Downtown and follows Meridian Street north to I-65. It includes several Indy landmarks, including the Indiana World War Memorial, the Masonic Library Museum, and the American Legion Mall. North Meridian is also convenient to Indiana University-Purdue University, which is located on the west side of the neighborhood.
