The Stone Church in Newmarket is currently a popular place to enjoy music performances. This historic church was built in 1832, and over the years since, it has served congregations of various denominations including Universalist, Unitarian and Catholic. When the Catholics sold the structure in the early 20th century, it became a meeting hall, a roller-skating rink and later, a shoe factory. In 1969, the Stone Church of today was formed and began to offer food, beer, touring entertainment and local music performances to the community. The Newmarket Historical Society and Museum offers regularly scheduled programs concerning the rich history and culture of this vibrant New England community.
