About 5 Chapel St Newmarket, NH 03857
Come live in downtown Newmarket, a historic mill town built along the banks of the Lamprey River, one of the most walkable communities in New Hampshire's Seacoast region. Unlike the brick mill towns of southern New England, Newmarket's historic district is distinguished by its use of stone — not just in the mills, but in the houses, churches, and schools that still line Main Street today. Step outside your door and you're in the middle of it all: the Stone Church, a beloved live-music venue dating back to 1832, good eats at Riverworks Tavern and Oak House, local coffee at Crackskulls and The Big Bean, riverfront views, and a stretch of independent shops and restaurants that give this town its character. Five Chapel sits just off Main Street, directly across from Rivermoor Landing and tucked behind the Post Office, on one of the largest lots in the Village Corridor Center. The property offers parking, laundry, and views of the Lamprey River and the Chinburg Mill Buildings. With 200 years of history, many of the renovated apartments still showcase original wood flooring, fireplaces, woodwork, and brick walls — a mix of classic and modern that makes it feel like home. As of February 2025, the building came under new ownership and management by BEAR Group Properties, a locally owned company focused on the resident experience. Our business is 100% digital — applications, leasing, rent payments, and maintenance requests all handled online. Expect a "Welcome Home" gift basket, 24-hour response to maintenance requests, and an average repair time of 3 days (2025 average across all tickets). Testimonials Meg M. South Street Resident (2024-current) "Dickie & Erin have been such wonderful and attentive landlords over my years renting from them! They are quick to respond, attentive to maintenance around the building, have great communication and are very thorough. There was even a wonderful basket of goodies on move-in day! I really appreciate their personable approach making everything comfortable and easy going! It’s great to know as a tenant that I am taken care of and am in great hands." Lindsey F., Rogers Street Resident (2022-23) "An absolutely amazing property management firm and my husband and I were lucky to have rented from them for a year. The lawn in the summer and the driveway in winter were always meticulously maintained for us. When we did have a reason to contact property management, they were super responsive and friendly and would plan times to come help us right away. Upon moving out, they were so flexible and helpful which made the whole process seamless as we were in the midst of buying our first home. I would highly recommend!"

Nestled alongside the Lamprey River and the Great Bay, Newmarket is a charming small town best known for its historic significance in the New Hampshire mill industry. However, Newmarket is a growing seacoast town today, brimming with local businesses and hometown appeal.
Newmarket is also teeming with options for outdoor recreation, including scenic trail walks and wildlife viewing on the banks of the Lamprey River. Superb restaurants, cafes, and shops fill the downtown waterfront area in Newmarket as well, offering plenty to explore near the water. Portsmouth and the University of New Hampshire are just minutes away from the town, while big destinations like Boston and Portland are each about an hour’s drive from Newmarket.
