Founded in 1888, Jeannette is a peaceful suburb with a colorful past. Established on a glass manufacturing center, Jeannette was once known as the “Glass City” and later earned the nickname “An American Workshop” for its diverse range of manufacturing and industry.
Jeannette’s history is preserved throughout the downtown area on Clay Avenue and 4th Street, where charming buildings adorned with murals house a variety of antique galleries, loft apartments, and quaint shops. Jeannette is home to a tight-knit community, which comes together for an array of annual parades and special events.
Situated about 25 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Jeannette is convenient to Seton Hill University, Downtown Greensburg, Bushy Run Battlefield, and numerous golfing destinations. Quick access to U.S. 30 and Route 66 makes getting around from Jeannette easy.
