Founded in 1888, Jeannette is a peaceful suburb with a colorful past. Established on a glass manufacturing center, Jeannette was once known as the “Glass City” and later earned the nickname “An American Workshop” for its diverse range of manufacturing and industry.
Jeannette’s history is preserved throughout the downtown area on Clay Avenue and 4th Street, where charming buildings adorned with murals house a variety of antique galleries, loft apartments, and quaint shops. Jeannette is home to a tight-knit community, which comes together for an array of annual parades and special events.
Situated about 25 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Jeannette is convenient to Seton Hill University, Downtown Greensburg, Bushy Run Battlefield, and numerous golfing destinations. Quick access to U.S. 30 and Route 66 makes getting around from Jeannette easy.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
