Only a few miles west of Lake Michigan, Highwood is bookended by miles of green space and parks. The Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve rests on the north side of town, and Exmoor Country Club is located on the southern part of the suburb. The community hosts plenty of food festivals, game nights, and other special events for the entire town to enjoy. Highwood offers residents a plethora of amenities, but if renters ever need to travel out of town, the town has its own rail service station that runs to Chicago and Kenosha.
