Attractive Family-Friendly Parks Schools Commutes Historic Shopping

Greendale has a little bit of everything: a historic downtown shopping district, a sleek and modern shopping mall, a river, lakes, even a botanical garden. It is also ideally located, roughly nine miles southwest of Milwaukee. And, Greendale is somewhat quirky -- you'll notice it as soon as you stroll through the neighborhoods filled with backward houses. After moving to Greendale, be sure to visit the Historic Greendale Welcome Center to learn more about this picturesque village. Greendale was one of three cities created in 1936 as part of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal.

Greendale is home to Wisconsin's largest mall, the Southridge Mall, which offers more than 125 stores. The downtown area is filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants, providing plenty of options for residents and visitors. A great location for those with children, Greendale has one of the best high schools in the state, Greendale High School. The school district overall is rated as one of the best in the Milwaukee metro area.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, Greendale offers some terrific destinations. Whitnall Park Boerner Botanical Gardens offers several beautiful gardens, a gift shop, a café, and a restaurant. Trimborn Farm, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was opened in 1846. The farm features a farmhouse, two barns, lime kilns, and a granary. The 118-mile Oak Leaf Trail is popular among walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and skaters.
