It is also ideally located, roughly nine miles southwest of Milwaukee. And, Greendale is somewhat quirky -- you'll notice it as soon as you stroll through the neighborhoods filled with backward houses. After moving to Greendale, be sure to visit the Historic Greendale Welcome Center to learn more about this picturesque village. Greendale was one of three cities created in 1936 as part of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal.
Greendale is home to Wisconsin's largest mall, the Southridge Mall, which offers more than 125 stores. The downtown area is filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants, providing plenty of options for residents and visitors. A great location for those with children, Greendale has one of the best high schools in the state, Greendale High School. The school district overall is rated as one of the best in the Milwaukee metro area.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, Greendale offers some terrific destinations. Whitnall Park Boerner Botanical Gardens offers several beautiful gardens, a gift shop, a café, and a restaurant. The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
