Located about ten miles south of Tampa, Gibsonton was once known as “Showtown, USA” for its status as the winter home of many circus performers and sideshow operators. Gibsonton became a haven for circus workers because of its close proximity to the Ringling Bros. headquarters in Tampa and its unique zoning laws which allow residents to keep circus paraphernalia, like carnival rides and show animals, on their front lawns.
Gibsonton, often referred to as Gibtown, honors its colorful history with the International Independent Showmen’s Museum, a carnival memorabilia museum. Gibsonton also hosts the largest trade show in the carnival industry, the annual Super Trade Show and Extravaganza.
Gibsonton residents enjoy convenience to the Greater Tampa Bay Area, including the many amenities of Tampa, Clearwater, and Saint Petersburg. Getting around from Gibsonton is easy with access to I-75 and Tampa International Airport.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
