As urban as this neighborhood is, it’s also one of the most residential downtowns in the nation. The Shops at Yale is in walking distance of Yale’s Old Campus, and includes a variety of boutiques, salons, and eateries.
Locals enjoy the area’s museums and theaters, like the university’s Art Gallery and Shubert Theater. Students and locals enjoy their Downtown New Haven homes and apartments, which are close by to the train station, Interstate 91, and Interstate 95.
Because of its compact size, the neighborhood is easy to get around on foot. With buildings dating back to the Colonial era, a picturesque and New England look enhances this bustling city center.

Though new businesses and restaurants seem to pop up in New Haven weekly, finding local employment is still not easy. New Haven as a city is still developing and coming out of a harsh economic time in the 80's. The city isn't an employment hub just yet.

East Rock and West Rock are the star parks in New Haven. Lots of space to hike, run, bike, picnic, play soccer-- really anything you'd like. In general, East and West Rock and generally well maintained, but not the safest place to go at night. The local beaches are too dirty to swim in, but nice enough to go out and sit by when the weather's nice. Connecticut in general has many great camping/backpacking opportunities such as the Appalachian Trail.
