Located about 22 miles northwest of Downtown Detroit, Bloomfield Township features large homes atop lush lawns, top-performing schools, wooded hills, and nearby lakes. The town wraps around Bloomfield Hills, which is home to the Bloomfield Hills Country Club, Stonycroft Hills Club, Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, and the prestigious Cranbrook Schools. Bloomfield contains several more golf courses and country clubs, including Birmingham Country Club, Oakland Hills Country Club, and Forest Lake Country Club. Johnson Nature Center provides hiking trails and a pond.

A shopping area is available near the intersection of East Square Lake Road and Woodward Avenue, providing several shops and restaurants. Bloomfield Town Square, located near the intersection of West Square Lake Road and Telegraph Road, contains a Costco, Best buy, and popular chain restaurants. The Detroit Skating Club was the training rink of top figure skaters, including Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and Olympic bronze medalist Adam Rippon.

Dating back to 1827, Bloomfield was the first township in Oakland County. It is also considered one of the most expensive communities in Michigan. Many celebrities called Bloomfield home, including Robin Williams and Aretha Franklin. Presidential candidate and Utah Senator Mitt Romney grew up in Bloomfield and attended the private Cranbrook prep school.
