The southern edge of the neighborhood borders MacDill Air Force Base, which consumes most of the southern tip of the peninsula. Residents of Ballast Point enjoy a waterfront lifestyle filled with boating and fishing. Many who don't work on the base commute to nearby Tampa, which is just six miles to the northeast. After choosing your Ballast Point apartment, you may find yourself heading downtown to the Amalie Arena to cheer on the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning or to catch a concert. Ballast Point is a beautiful neighborhood -- the sun sparkling off the bay and the majestic oak trees dripping with Spanish moss give it an old-world feel. Ballast Point was the site of a major Civil War battle, and today the site of the battle is a park. Ballast Point Park is not only a historic location, but it is also a fantastic place for residents to gather and enjoy the sprayground, playground, pier, boat ramp, and café.

Great neighborhood. Ballast Point has a great sense of community. Roads need to be improved drastically and be expanded.
