Excellent managers and security staff, very helpful and very available even on the Weekends. Move-in was very easy as Chestnut Apartment has service elevator and hotel style roller carts in the front.

good quality living but return rates overpriced especially to transfer rooms in the same building. gym is good, fetch is very convenient but fees are unnecessary.

Maintenance was great and very responsive. The building has its own portal where you can request assistance, and they would call you the same day to figure out the best time to stop by your place to get whatever you needed fixed(less than 24 hours overall). Jose is the best, very friendly and willing to help in any possible way. He will make your stay as pleasing as possible.

My daughter is going to graduate school in Philadelphia and The Chestnut came highly recommended by friends who went to Penn. We chose The Chestnut because there is no place as nice in University City. I just returned from spending six days in Philly moving her in. The grounds are brand new and clean — even the refuse room (best smelling trash room I've ever smelled!) The building is quiet and in beautiful condition. There is a pool on the rooftop which is the nicest in the city. Security is a priority and the concierge always asks for names and identification — as a Mom I really like this. There are large bellman carts available for moving — extremely helpful. Co-working spaces abound with lots of comfortable nooks. I'd say my favorite thing about the building, though — and that's difficult because I really like everything, is José, the director of maintenance. He has been really helpful with explaining the building, giving us ideas of how to hang pictures to decorate without marking up the walls — he even helped us hang sconces by drilling holes and move shelving. We love it so far!

The staff at The Chestnut is very friendly, specially Jose who helped me put my furniture together. He’s very efficient and I would recommend him for any handyman job.

Brief: Very unprofessional and in some situations rude leasing “professional”. We were given "wrong information" about the rent! And we have to live in this apartment. If I could give zero stars, I would give this apartment zero! More details: I decided to live near UPenn campus and approached both “The Chestnut “ and “3737 Chestnut”. 3737 offered an excellent priced unit in their Penthouse, while “The chestnut” price was higher. We finally decided to apply for 3737 Chestnut and got approved for Penthouse. Meanwhile, The Chestnut gave us an offer with an even cheaper price but a lower-level unit. We decided to move to The Chestnut since the price is cheaper and amenities looked better, however not the top-level units. I personally tried to confirm their price many (many) times via email, phone call, and even second in-person visit before I cancel my reservation for 3737 Chestnut, and every time leasing professional, very unprofessionally replied the same price. After we applied for the unit and when we wanted to sign the lease they changed the price. At that point, we had our credit checked with two apartments and we lost our original offer at 3737 Chestnut, something I tried to avoid since the beginning! We had to sign the deal since we were out of time and options, the community manager simply said it was a simple mistake. The leasing professionals cannot even make a simple calculation! Be aware! Very careful about dealing with them, not lose your other option, don’t fall for their emails and their number, it was a mistake I made. Additionally, the leasing professional who handled our contract was rude, we are paying a good price and it is supposed to be luxury! Pros: it is a new apartment, like every other new apartment!

The Chestnut has a very professional team that makes living feel luxurious in addition to the luxury apartment itself. The response times are quick and the whole team from the leasing agents, concierge, maintenance staff and custodial staff are all nice and friendly.

Pros: - Nicely designed lobby and amenity spaces. - Controlled access to the building and elevator. Cons: - Extremely annoying noises from surrounding facilities. Noisy neighbors (loud music, partying, screaming, etc.). Though the management was able to resolve some of these noise issues, some noise issues just can't be resolved due to the location and the poor quality of the building, e.g. compact floor layout, narrow hallway (all units on each floor located on two sides of the hallway), and thin walls, makes it really easy for noises to penetrate. The AC unit, when operating, is very loud as well. If you are sensitive to noises, definitely look for somewhere else to live. - Sometimes the maintenance staff would just unlock your door first at some random time in the morning and then ask for permission to enter instead of contacting you in advance and get a permission to enter first (or ask for your availability). Overall, the building is not worth the rental.

I live living here! The apartments and amenities are absolutely beautiful and it was the perfect place to have to spend quarantine. Even my studio apartment feels spacious and welcoming. The maintenance staff is fabulous and always come within 24 hours and are helpful and friendly! Would highly recommend living here!

The chestnut is a fantastic upscale yet fairly priced housing option for folks looking to live in booming University city section of Phila and especially for students at Penn and Drexel.
A beautiful, very clean, and quiet place to live. Conveniently located in University City near many restaurants and across the bridge from Center City. The staff is all extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
