Starting with the Watchung Reservation on the north end to Ash Brook Reservation on the southeast side, Scotch Plains is filled with parks and green space. The town is wedged between Plainfield and Westfield roughly 14 miles southwest of Newark. In addition to parks, Scotch Plains contains two golf courses, the Shackamaxon Country Club and Ash Brook Golf Course. Bowcraft, an amusement park offering roller coasters, thrill rides, and arcade games, is also located in Scotch Plains.
Scotch Plains is a historic location first claimed by Dutch explorers in 1609. The English conquered the area in 1664, and settlers from Scotland arrived around 1684. The Frazee House, built around 1720, played a crucial role in the American Revolution. It was in this house that Elizabeth Frazee ("Aunt Betty"), a prolific baker, turned away a British soldier who wanted her fresh-baked loaf of bread.

the office staff is always so helpful. had an issue with my heat this morning and James called back promptly off hours. he walked me through what the issue could be and solved it within minutes over the phone! very patient thorough and helpful! love living here and highly recommend!!!
Do not even bother with any Garden Communities properties, they are greedy and don't care about their tenants. I lived here for a year, had an ant infestation upon moving in, had my hot water, air conditioning, and heat go out twice within 10 months of moving in, and had an electrical issue with faulty wiring in my bedroom. After only a year of being here they wanted to increase my rent by $125 a month and would only go down to $114 when I pushed back. Don't even waste your time and money with them
The renovated apartments may look nice but after living for here 6 months I've noticed reoccurring issues that make me second guess my decision to live here. If I have a work order done I don't get notified it's been fixed and it takes a few follow up calls to figure out when maintenance came into my apartment to fix it. Also, if you enjoy quiet I would NOT recommend living here. The walls are paper thin so I hear everything. Also, the construction company hired by Lamberts Mill works on Saturdays as well so you get to wake up to hammering and sawing which isn't pleasant. That means either you stay in your apartment and listen to it all day or you're forced to leave your apartment for some peace. I also have had some nasty bugs in my apartment from centipedes to bugs I've never seen before in my life. This seems to be an ongoing issue in every apartment since the exterminator is contracted to come twice a month so I'm not the only one with this issue.
