The neighborhood in and surrounding Lakewood Manor has increasingly become unsafe, lacks security, and has slow to no response from the local police. Lately (as of Summer 2021), there has been a string of car thefts, altercations, vandalism, racing cars through the neighborhood, loitering, smoking weed in the laundry rooms, and firework fires, to name a few, among other things. I constantly notify the Lakewood Manor Leasing Office and, more recently, the Lakewood Police. I recently called the Lakewood Police on 07/21/2022 to address a belligerent person assaulting one of my neighbors, and the police told us there was nothing we could do and that this neighborhood "is getting worse." If you're planning on renting here, please be aware that these incidences continue to happen without viable solutions or support from the leasing office and local police. I’ve lived here for five years and the first three years were great. The staff was excellent, the property was constantly maintained and cleaned. The security gates worked, and the office staff responded super quick to any issue I may have had. There were no roaches, you could literally walk outside at 2 a.m. it was quiet and safe. That all changed when the Management changed as well as the staff. The security gates never work, there is constantly homeless people coming inside the property to your door, they stopped cleaning like they should, the garbage overflows every weekend, and now there are roaches. The rent goes up every year but there are no upgrades for the cost of what you’re paying. There are already no amenities with this apartment property. People are constantly smoking weed and it comes into your house. People are constantly fighting at 2:00,3:00,4:00am very loud where you have to call the Lakewood Sheriff’s Dept. and ultimately they don’t do anything. Trust this info. Current resident soon to be ex-resident.
They are there just to take our money ! They are very attentive until you pay the application fee. Then, they disappear and don't get the phones call and send an email back either. I am moving to CA and I already facing several tricks and rude speech issues.

Do not move here. I moved to Lakewood Manor nine months ago, and in the past five months the community has completely fallen apart. The gate to enter our complex has been broken for months, the laundry units remain dirty and due to the doors being broken to them I’ve caught homeless people doing drugs and the you know what in there. Do not move here. Next, a new resident moved in with his partner and they have had the police at their home at least once every two weeks. They are constantly fighting and disturbing the peace and even though multiple neighbors have complained to property management and or called the police on them, property management has done nothing. Do not move here. I wanted to talk to the director about my lease and if they could move me into another unit on site but before I could even ask he told me he couldn’t renegotiate my rent rate, even though that had nothing to do with what I wanted to talk to him about. Do not move here. If you’re on the fence about moving here, or are attracted to the low rent prices, do yourself a favor and Do Not Move Here. Property Management is horrible and does not care about you and the community is going downhill quick, DO NOT MOVE HERE.
Mold and mildew growing, they blame the tenets, I'm not opening my windows in winter, I dont see how proper ventilation in this apartment is forced on the tenets. Carpet is wet, window is leaking, clothes and bedding are ruined. All they can say is I have to open my window. Yeah I want my windows open in winter and with smoker living above me in a none smoking apartment. No one answers the phone in the office. I called every few minutes for over an hour many days for many reasons, no one really works here.
My family and I have lived here for almost 2 years & have loved it. The apartment complex is ALWAYS well kept, the maintenance crew is ALWAYS on top of things when you need them, the office staff is GREAT! The location couldn’t be any better, you literally have every store & major food chain restaurants right across the street. The area is super safe & quiet. Can’t say enough positive things. The only reason we’d leave is to become homeowners!
I have been living here for many years. The staff at the office are the most kind and caring people. I was hit by a car right by the apartments and every staff member at Lakewood Manor came running out of the office to my aid. Lakewood Manor has always felt like home, you never want to leave, you can walk any where, it is so safe and quiet here. It is kept very clean and any problems they are on the job. I first lived here for 7-8 years, moved away and came right back. Friendly, caring, clean, safe, if this is how you want to live, than Lakewood Manor is your home....Tina A.
For those who appreciate a quiet and clean space, this is the place for you. The units are spacious and clean, the neighbors are nice and friendly, and the staff has been very accommodating. This is a pet friendly apartment, so your four-legged companions can come with you. And I have to add that even though a good part of the residents own pets, I have NEVER had a noise problem (i.e. dogs barking in the middle of the night). But perhaps what I like the most is the location. It is right across the street from Lakewood Mall and various grocery stores - perfect for shopping. You can merely walk down the street and you have an endless choice of restaurants. You would also be a couple blocks away from the city library, sheriff's station, fire station, post office, and Long Beach City College (LBCC). The 605 and 91 freeways are a very short distance away, and PCH is also nearby if you'd rather take the scenic route into Orange County. The only downside so far is the lack of available street parking. Other than that, I have to say I have been more than pleased by my decision to rent at Lakewood Manor, and I highly recommend these apartments.
The apartment community is divided into beautifully gardened courtyards that are manicured and well maintained. Its quiet and safe and home. A stones throw away from shopping and restaurants, bus lines and the Beach. A great staff that works round the clock and always greets you with courtesy and a smile. Theres no place like home..... Lakewood Manor Apartments are in the heart of the city and perfect for all age groups. Lakewood is a safe and friendly neighborhood with little to no crime at all. It is just minutes away from a shopping spree across the street at the Lakewood Mall and even walking distance to get a bite to satisfy your hunger. All of the Apartments are newly remodeled with a courtyard, beautiful fountain, and a barbecue grill to share. Each courtyard is shared among sixteen apartments with enough privacy to not be disturbed at anytime. Lakewood Manor gives a sense of urban life to brighten up the city. It truly is the most amazing apartments in the city of Lakewood and it is hard not to love!
These apartments are very well keep. If anything needs to be fix the maintenance here repairs or replaces things quickly. The area is nice. the mall is less than a 5 minute walk away. The only thing I think is a con is that parking for guest is hard to get, they might have to park far away at times. the laundry rooms are very close. the neighbors are quiet. a bonus is that there is no smoking aloud in the court yards.
I have lived in Lakewood Manor apartments for about a year now. This is my first apartment in California since moving from Tennessee and I am glad that I made a good choice with this apartment. I didn't know much about the area but this apartment was near a lot of restuarants and they are also plenty of things to do nearby. The apartment is fairly quiet for the most part and apartment is clean and fairly well taken care of. Parking can be a bit tough if you have to park on the street since it's always packed. Rent isn't too bad either. You could do a whole lot worse that's for sure.
