The relatively flat terrain and well kept roads allow local residents to use bicycles when the weather permits, and you can often find local streets packed with bikes. Janesville is also quite safe for walking, though you should avoid biking or walking along Highway 51 at night due to low visibility and the lack of biking lanes.
