Island bay Resort Apartments

I have lived here as well as 5 of my friends. Management is awful and if you call the owners they say that "They can do anything they want" and hang up. The front of the complex looks great. Look again. Drive to the back of complex. Check out the gym where you will find broken down equipment. Check out the media room, stairs, dog park, etc. You will not be impressed. These people do not care about the tenants. All they want to do is collect money. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere. Does not even desire a star.

We absolutely love this place. The management and staff are great and the Maintenace is always so prompt. You Read a lot of bad reviews but to be Honest there are always 2 sides to every story most of the people that leave the bad reviews are those that didn't pay rent so had to leave or those that didn't fallow the community rules and through a fit when got into trouble. I truly recommend Island Bay. P.S. The security guys are amazing.

I moved from Frisco TX in Nov , signed a lease for 6 months , don't know what I am getting into, after living here for more than 6 months we love it and signed 13 months lease. Maintainence, Service is excellent view from our apt in front of the water is beautiful. we love Island Resort

Beautiful apartments with great water views and amenities. Management was very helpful with my move.

Pros: -Immediately next to Moody Gardens, one of the main attractions on the island. -Has a fishing pier, boat launch, and you can tie your boat up along the little canal inlets. -Offers 6-month leases. -Pretty view from some apartments of either the bay, or the pond at the center of the complex. -One of the higher complexes in the area, so flooding is not a big issue. -Had electricity during the big freeze when nowhere else on island did. -It’s a place to live on island. Cons: -Constantly finding small roaches (the nasty kind, not the large water roaches) in my apartment even though it is kept clean. They list pest control on the rent charges, but I’m not sure that pest control ever actually comes, I’ve never seen a difference nor any person coming around to do it. -Apartment smells of smoke on multiple occasions because the downstairs neighbor smokes like a chimney and it seeps up into my unit even though smoking is supposed to not be allowed. -Worst paint job I have ever seen. They painted over everything with thick paint, including the cable connections on the wall and the door hinges which cracked and peeled upon being opened since they were caked with paint. Maintenance had to come within the first week to replace the cable outlets so I could actually use the internet that I had paid to have working on the day I moved in (maintenance was at least quick). -Manager seems to always be out of the office and hard to get ahold of. -Communication was great when I was moving in, but after that it was difficult to get in touch with anyone who knew anything when questions arose.

Alway document what people tell you in office. They will charge you something when you move out even if you polish the apartment from front to back. A lot of unsupervised children under 7 play around the boat landing. Lots of dogs off of their leashes. Amenities listed on apartment is closed except for the pool and it is closed most of the time.

I moved out after several months of having a mold infested bathroom after reporting it and maintenance people coming in several times making the small leak becomes a massive leak…the office people sent a letter lying about maintenance people being deny entrance into the apartment after we begged them to fix the problem also none of the amenities listed worked for over a year only the pool. Many other problems the main thing is the lying we clean the apartment had photos and they still charged a cleaning fee .. if you decide to move her make sure you take plenty pictures because they are liars.

When I moved there pool was closed, exercise room never opens no club house available very slow maintenance also please take photo of maintenance person when they come in because they will lie and say you wouldn’t let them in if they can’t fix the problems. Black mold in bathroom. Major problems with security gates always open ..children always opening back gate or hopping fence children unsupervised by water and dogs not on chain. Dog wasted all over property.

This property was great under the last manager. The new manager not so much. You have trash and dog poop everywhere. You have kids running wild damaging property and playing in the roads. Parking is not controlled as promised so paying tenants have no spots. They brag about a gym that once you move in you find out it been under renovations for years. Tons of loud parties and grown adults who have no kids serve kids alcohol. Sad thing is the trash is friends with current management so nothing is done. Beware. You will pay a steep price for a headache. Oh and the good reviews are thanks to drawings for free rent to but reviews to make up for the real reviews so watch out for the fake good reviews

This place is great. The staff are very nice and understanding, the property is kept up with and is always trash free. I've had no issues with my apartment since I've moved in besides a minor sink leak that they fixed very quickly. Me and my family constantly go fishing at the dock and there is even a lagoon full of turtles that my kids love to feed. On new years since the apartments are super close to moody gardens you even get a free fireworks show too! My only complaint is that the clubhouse has been closed for a while since they're renovating it, hopefully they will reopen it soon

They kept telling me they sprayed for bugs but I kept getting cockroaches. And they were HUGE cockroaches. I'm pretty sure they live inside the walls which would mean they need to tear down the walls to really get rid of them which they were not going to do. I contacted the staff to come to patch up the huge holes behind the sink where they kept coming in and they never did so I just ended up doing it by myself. Don't let the pictures and the "newly renovated" fool you. They just did some shoddy touch-ups and once the smell of paint finally airs out the apartment has a distinct old building smell. Mosquitos are terrible here and the apartment gets terrible lighting (killed all my plants). I hate to leave a bad review because the staff there was so nice especially the maintenance man but I hated living there and moved out a month early. A lot of my neighbors seemed to be moving out too, I don't think people stay here very long. If you still want to live at island bay stay away from apt 321 (my apartment) if you don't like roaches and only do a short term lease. Thank goodness I did because after a few weeks I was ready to GO!

Anytime I have a question or am perplexed, everyone goes out of their way to resolve whatever I have contacted them about. I enjoy my sunny view outside my patio. I'm trying to learn how to grow plants out there. I love my life here!

My family and I are from the city so us moving out here was a change for us. The moment the leasing office worker give us a tour we were sold on it! Everyone is extremely nice and welcoming! It’s a place where neighbors turn into incredible friends! Workers get everything due in a good timely manner! And most amazing is getting up and being able to fish whenever you want!

Sheena! Remember that name if you live at Island Bay. Sheena and her Team have made several improvements here at Island Bay the last few months. I have seen better lighting at the mailboxes and walkways, trash removal from the common areas, gate working properly, landscaping improvements, friendly greetings when you walk in the office, smiling staff, professionalism on the phone and most importantly, Sheena making herself available to Residents. If you are looking for an apartment, don’t come here. If you are looking for a place to call home, come check it out. You will not be disappointed. The representative offered me 1st month rent free, I confirmed this 3 times with her. After paying their admin fee they reneged on the 1st month free. Manager may deny this but I have it in writing. Staff was nice but they don’t stand by their word. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I love these apartments, friendly staff, maintenance was fast in fixing problems in apartment. I recommend these apartments to anyone. Never had a problem or any issues living there.

We have enjoyed Island Bay. Everyone is friendly and care about the tenants. Apartments are gorgeous you wont be disappointed for sure. Great Management team. Come join the family.

Not only is the office team amazing and incredibly helpful, so is the maintenance staff. Living here can be like a dream sometimes, especially with the sunsets over the water and fireworks in the summer. If you are moving to Galveston to be near the water, this is definitely the place to be. There’s free boat docking, fishing piers and docks galore, 3 beautiful blue pools, a huge brand new dog park, lots of beautiful shaded areas to take walks or walk your dog, a volleyball court that overlooks the bay, and not to mention the security! So awesome! I’ve had a lot of poor experiences living in apartments.. I almost rented a house, but I’m glad I didn’t because I love coming home to Island Bay. Another plus is my neighbors..they’re so friendly and make it even better to live here

I moved here a few months ago. I have been very impressed by this community. The residents here greet each other with a smile or a nod. The management staff are polite, respectful and sometimes appropriately humorous. I moved into a community where I want and need to be.

Lots of issues in some areas. Issues with hostile neighbors and cigarette smoke severe. Not handicapped safe in some areas. Some Apts remodeled and nice.

From the moment I entered the office to the moment I viewed the model, I was amazed with Island Bay. The apartments are nicer than any that I viewed while searching in Galveston (and I viewed many). I just love the upgraded countertops, flooring, fixtures, paint, french doors, and bathroom sinks. Their apartments are more spacious than others I viewed in Galveston. The views are amazing whether you get an apartment on the canal or around the turtle pond (plus you get a free fireworks show). The staff were very attentive and helpful. They knew what I needed multiple times and provided me with it before I even had to ask. My leasing agent, Leanne, is amazing! She is so professional and efficient. Leanne has been very helpful in the process of moving into Island Bay Resort. She showed me all of the specials they were offering and allowed me to tour multiple apartments with ease. I’m moving into the apartment complex from far away, so my lease signing has been digital, and if I ever have questions, she responds to emails or phone calls in a very timely manner. It’s good to know that the leasing office will help you answer questions and make you feel like you’re making the right decision because they’ll always be there to support you.

Most amenities advertised are NOT actually available. The machines at the gym don’t work and the clubhouse is constantly closed without notice. The gate is either always open or it’s closed without most residents knowing how to get inside. Insanely overpriced for what’s offered.

I moved in in October, the view is amazing and the staff is really friendly. I don't regret it for any second !

I am a current resident.my family love it here. Atmosphere is welcoming and quit. Everyone is friendly. All amenities work for us, 3 pools a dog park volley ball court laundry club house with WiFi and gym. I would def recommend this resort apartment to everyone. They do contests Iike decor your porch for the holidays winners get $ off rent . They have alot of community events .

False advertising.. Broken promises. Most amenities down. Closed laundry room. Didn't fill back pool on Sat. Alot of talk and excuses and NO ACTION. So sad. I had high hopes and was let down. ??

I have lived here about a year and like it but there are too many residents that violate the rules. There are a lot of dogs here and too many irresponsible residents that don't pick up after them. Even though management sends out notices that people will be fined, the repeat offenders don't seem to be concerned about this. Another thing is trash. Some people are too lazy to put their trash in the dumpsters and just throw it around it. Makes the place look trashy. A lot of litterers here too. Just through their empty drink containers anywhere. I think that management does a good job of keeping the apartments and grounds maintained but are thwarted by these lazy, irresponsible residents. Good location and roomy apartments but not sure if I will be renewing my lease because of lack of enforcement of violations.

I absolutely love my apartment inside and out. All of the amenities are great and living within walking distance to moody gardens and schlitterbahn is a plus as well. It's always nice and quiet which I love. This is also the first complex I've lived at that has activities and events planned for the residence and I can't forgot how amazing the office staff is. I am amazed by this apartment; unfortunately it's not in a good way. We have had nothing but problems since we moved in a little over 2 months ago. This apartment was marketed as freshly renovated with a full upgrade package. Upon the initial walkthrough, everything seemed fine. Then we moved in and the problems became our nightmares. We have floors that are coming up, a rusted out bathtub, leaking ceilings with a hole in the roof that is letting in massive cock roaches, black mold growing everywhere and last but certainly not least, insulation and ductwork that is so horrible the brand new A/C can't keep the temperatures below 80 during the day. We have to run portable units to make it even remotely liveable. All I can say is run and keep running from this place!!!

Nice people, great price for a place on the island. Some newly renovated! I love the fishing pier right in the back of the apartment. The staff is friendly and teachers get a waiver on deposits. Plus we sit right behind Moody Gardens and get to enjoy the week end fireworks for free!
