About Flat Rock Towers Co-op
Flat Rock Co-op is a really great senior community located in the beautiful city of Flat Rock, Michigan. Within its six stories are 96 units that offer lots of comfort and amazing views for people that are 62 years of age and older. A limited number of apartments are available for younger persons who have a physical disability and need the special features of a unit designed for the mobility impaired. Call for eligibility requirements. Flat Rock Co-op is nationally recognized as “A Community of Quality” by the National Affordable Housing Management Association. This co-op first opened its doors in 1989 and had a multi-million dollar renovation in 2007. Flat Rock Towers has come to be a healthier and safer environment to live in by becoming 100% smoke free. Smoking is not allowed within the individual apartments, the common areas, and within 25 feet of the building. Flat Rock Co-op isn’t just an apartment building, it’s a lively community. Activities and events are put on by volunteers from the co-op which not only is a great way to volunteer and stay active, but also provides a perfect medium for meeting neighbors and making friends. Some examples include bingo, needle craft, bunco, and monthly dinners and parties. Our service coordinator has educational meetings in the community room. If relaxing is what you feel like doing, then there are plenty of community rooms that have terrific views of the Huron River. Directly across the street from Flat Rock Co-op is beautiful Huroc Park which is on the Huron River. This park is well known in the area for great fishing, and has many gazebos located throughout perfect for sitting and enjoying nature at its best. We have our own gazebo and grill. It's a great way to spend time with friends and fellow members. While on the opposite side of the co-op there is a bank, convenience store, and pharmacy. Flat Rock is affordable for everyone. Located south of Detroit and about an hour north of Toledo is the city of Flat Rock. Thanks to its great location, along with Interstate 75 and the Telegraph Road running through the city, access to the surrounding areas is made easy.
Flat Rock is bordered by the Huron River and a favorite activity among residents is taking a trip to Huroc Park, a small island park located in the river. There are several other inland parks available to Flat Rock residents like the Civic Center Park and the Thomas Simpson Park. Another favorite activity among children and adults is the Flat Rock Model Train Depot and Museum. Because of this city’s great location, other activities are easily accessible to residents, like the beaches of Lake Erie and the Flat Rock Motor Speedway.
