The area that has become Faye Wright was originally inhabited by the Kalapuya Native American tribe. Trappers, missionaries and settlers began to arrive in the area in the early 1800s, and early settlers built settlements near the Willamette River. As transportation expanded, the city of Salem started to grow, and the Faye Wright neighborhood began to develop.

Faye Wright is located southwest of Salem along Liberty Road South and Commercial Street South East. It should take about 10 minutes to drive from Faye Wright to Salem via Liberty Rd South. Driving from Faye Wright to Portland should take around one hour via Interstate 5 North.

Public on-street parking is available throughout the neighborhood. Salem Area Mass Transit District services the area with regular routes as well as express buses that connect to the greater Portland area’s Trimet public transit system.

If you need to schedule a ride, you can call a taxi service like Willamette Valley Transport. Uber's ride-share service does not extend to the Faye Wright area.

Dedicated bike lanes extend along most roads in the area. Due to the central location of many shops, restaurants and attractions, Faye Wright is easily accessible both on bike and by foot.

Spend your afternoon exploring the expansive forested acres of Nelson Park, which features a children’s playground, barbecue areas, paved walking and biking paths and spacious grassy areas for other activities.

Make your way to Wes Bennett Park for some fresh air. Let the kids have fun exploring the park's extensive playground system that includes a splash-and-play area during the summer. Shoot some hoops in the basketball court, or head out onto the spacious grassy area for a game of Frisbee. You can bring your pooch for a walk here, since the park is dog-friendly, but pets must remain on leashes.
