The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Property Ratings at Discover The Retreat
There are many apartments in the area to pick from, but we are very happy with our decision to call this place our new home. There are a few minor imperfections that we have noticed however these were so minor that we did not let them discourage us from picking this place. We love it here so far and so do most of our neighbors.
The community is quiet, slightly updated, and in a good school district. Management also puts on events for residence—however, the grounds flood. There is no parking unless you pay for a spot. The dog park is a joke. I checked the mail a few times to find unattended Pitbulls in the pool area like it was a person playpen. And the pond is nasty; When I first moved in there used to be ducks and lots of turtles...I haven't seen a duck there in years. Some of the mailboxes don't even close completely, and my key gets stuck. The inside of the apartments, you can hear your neighbors all the time and are full of bugs. There is evidence of water damage throughout my unit and outlets that don't hold plugs, a light that flickers even after changing the bulb multiple times, and a light switch that does even work. Maintenance requests are marked completed when no one even shows up...or they will show up 5+ business days later.
Well when I first moved into my apartments I go to park in from of my apartment and they said I can’t it’s reserved I would have to pay $20 more a month so I had to park all the way in the back. I started considering once I tried bringing groceries home but they said there’s only two available none of which are in front or near my apartment. They don’t tell you the parking situation until you move in, there was parking for a food trailer in a guest parking but not for the residents unless you pay for parking, yesterday June 18th there was about 10 cars looking for parking, here everyone is welcome first come first serve unless you pay. Two weeks later, I see this $20 charge on my bill and they tell me I’ve had a parking spot since I moved in almost right in front of my apartment. There was so many defects with my apartment which I couldn’t see before since they didn’t send me pictures, it wasn’t clean, had dripping facets, broken toilet seats, lose air conditioning filter cover which made it sound like a jet engine. I don’t think they ever got it rental ready. In the second bedroom there was no lightbulb or ceiling fan and to install one I had to purchase myself knowing I’ll never get it back. The apartment smells Smokey even though no one is smoking. My apartment was definitely not move in ready had to put in 18 work orders after I was done moving in. I put in another workorder for it and they didn’t come...it was Friday so I figured maybe they don’t work on the weekends, but on Monday I checked and it showed completed, when it wasn’t and then I called again and they changed back to in process after I called. It seems like after I moved it, that the forever renovations begin they’ve been painting, repairing, constructing and working on things they’ve repaired like twenty times already. I have three different notices from 3 separate times to move my car because they are painting the lines in the parking? Once I installed the fan the never painted the wall again I put it in about 5-10 work orders for it, sometimes it would say in process, sometimes it would be completed, but it took 5 months to get paint for my second bedroom the size of a book. still wouldn’t have been down if I hadn’t happen to mention it, to the supervisor. I asked for my microwave to be repaired because till this day, the plug is hanging from the wall, but they just made it functional, it took them 2 weeks to get me a new working microwave Do yourself a favor and don’t move here...
You don't find apartments like this anymore. We love our community and the love the management team spreads through the property.
Just a heads up. I've lived here for several months, and there is a serious Water Roach problem due to the fishing ponds being in the middle of the property. You will see at least 5-7 roaches every morning when you wake up and switch on the lights. You will need to call them every 2 weeks to have the pest control company do a treatment, but in the end all they can do is control the roach problem. They will not be able to get rid of it.
I have been residing at The cottages for almost a year. The monthly rent is average for area, however the apartments are not worth what you pay for. The premises are unsecure and unsafe. I have personally been a witness to at least 3 violent incidents from the mildly spacious back porches. They overlook a calming waterway with a freshly painted bridge. I am only renting here for the school district for my daughter's school. As by reading this you can see I am actively looking for another place.
The rent for my apartment is reasonably priced for the size and how nice they are! The neighborhood is nice, its around pretty much everything. The complex feels secure with the gated enviroment. The pool is nice and I love the people who live around me!
