Southside Flats is one of two neighborhoods that make up Pittsburgh's dynamic Southside. The primarily residential neighborhood is located at the base Mount Washington, Southside's enormous hill. It also sits right under the Southside Slopes, the other Southside neighborhood, which runs precariously up the hillside. Residents of the Flats have convenient access to the hottest shopping and nightlife district in Pittsburgh, as well as riverfront trails and parks.
The lively neighborhood lies south of the Monongahela River and south of East Carson Street, known as the "Great American Main Street." One of Pittsburgh's major commercial corridors, East Carson Street offers 15 blocks of Victorian architecture, boutiques, restaurants, bars, art galleries, theatres, and live music venues.
Southside has experienced a residential renaissance, as older 19th-century homes, abandoned factories, and mills are being renovated into modern houses, apartments, and luxury lofts.

Property Ratings at Connection at Southside
Connection at southside is a great home for people of all ages. We have people ranging from college students, to young adults, all the way to families and elderly. Connection does a great job at responding to the community’s requests and suggestions and seems to be continually working to make the experience better for everybody! The maintenance and management team are very warm and welcoming people that I’m appreciative to have. Overall it’s made my last two years here unbeatable, and the amenities that the building offers are great. Would recommend to anybody looking for a new place to stay, especially if you’re looking to meet people as the management team does a great job of organizing community events for the residents to get to know eachother!

I’ve lived here for a little over a year so I’ll make a pros and cons list. Pros: location (ish), I like my room layout, grills are kept nice and clean, communal areas are kept clean, it has a pool (see cons list), pet friendly with a small area to take your dogs out to the bathroom Cons: parking is INSANE (expensive I.e $100-175/mo, very minimal parking spots), getting over the hot metal bridge can take up to 10-15minutes when leaving for work, the pool heater has been broken since before I moved in (again, over a year), some areas of the building smell like dog pee, the “river view” is a view of a parking lot, EXTREMELY loud trains and traffic noise, no security (maybe 5 cameras in the entire building), packages go missing routinely and staff is unwilling or unable to help. Overall, buyer beware. They claim it’s a “luxury” apartment but in my honest opinion, not even close. You do not get much for your dollar here.
It saddens me to write a negative review of this place given the lovely apartments and amenities, but the parking situation is absolutely abhorrent — to the extent that it will 100% reduce the length of time I choose to stay here. Writing this review so that prospective tenants know this ahead of time. There are some (albeit limited) parking spaces within the complex for tenants, but C.A.S.S. has fully failed to provide those same tenants with the ability to have visitors. The leasing office recommends street parking and there is also a nearby-ish garage, both of which are still nowhere close to the apartment (both a safety and ADA concern imo). Additionally, if street parking is full and you’re looking around at nighttime, be aware that the garages also aren’t open 24/7. My partner and I (as well as all of our friends) work in the medical field and work unusual hours, thereby making these visitor parking options unsafe at best, and fully inaccessible at worst. It sucks to complain about a place that is otherwise absolutely awesome, but this one specific thing has been an immense source of stress and I really wouldn’t recommend living here if you or your loved ones are car owners lol P.S. as the other review stated, Chris is absolutely awesome though :)

The satisfaction of our residents is of utmost importance to our team, and we would like to help make your time here as positive as possible moving forward. We understand that not having guest parking onsite can be frustrating, but since there is a limited amount of space, we have to prioritize resident parking. We recommend directing your guests to the Furnace Garage, which is only two blocks away from our community, is open 24/7, and offers a low flat rate on nights and weekends.
Just beautiful! If you tour you will get to meet Chris who is AMAZING! Great energy and ideas for how furniture can look in the space and he knows his stuff. I look forward to living here and getting this vibe and energy on a regular.
