Much of the west side of Colonial Village is home to Rock Creek Park, and the Rock Creek Trail starts in the neighborhood. This is the northernmost part of DC, bordering Maryland. The eastern border, 16th Street, features several bus stops for convenient commutes. Many of the large, elegant homes in Colonial Village feature colonial details, including dormers, gabled roofs, and stacked stone or brick facades. Since Colonial Village is primarily residential, residents head to Silver Spring (about a mile northeast) to enjoy the city's shops, restaurants, and entertainment.
