Newcastle is a gorgeous lakeside suburb just minutes away from Seattle, frequently recognized as one of the best places to live in Washington (and even the nation). The crime rate is quite low and the local schools earn top marks. Outdoor activities are always close at hand in Newcastle, with May Creek Park running along the south side of town, the Golf Club at Newcastle on the northeast corner, and Lake Washington to the west.
On the east side of town, the Newcastle Hills lead up into Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, a highly popular area for hiking and mountain biking. Property Ratings at Castle Creek
Upsides: Good pool to never swim in, friendly staff to never speak to, and.a small but well-maintained gym to visit the week after New Year's. Groceries, drug stores, and good restaurants within walking distance. Apartments are relatively large, and nothing's broken down in the kitchen over the last couple years. Downsides: You have to pay for assigned covered parking or else leave your car under a waterfall of tree sap overnight. Rent's creeping up faster than I can punch the numbers into a calculator.
Despite an annual rent increase, this place is well-maintained and close to the main highways and byways. The pool is a nice place and the management treats people with kindness and respect. Parking is sometimes a problem, but not huge. Its a good place to live - shopping, parks and recreation nearby.
