The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at Casa Grande Apartments
I came to see the property with my roommate. Elena the property manager is very sweet and refers to the complex as "her home." At first we saw this as a sign that the property would be well maintained and professionally. However as our conversation with her progressed it seems as though Elena perhaps takes her role as manager too personally as she began making very personal questions to the point of prying. She continually referred to the property as though she owned it and permitted others to live in it. When we disclosed we would be applying with a documented and trained service animal she automatically backpedaled in her consideration of our application and said that she did not allow pets. She was obviously uninformed about laws protecting those with disabilities about being discriminated against in housing decisions. She then began making very personal and prying questions about the disability which left both my roommate and I very uncomfortable. Not only is this illegal but very unprofessional. Although the idea of having an involved on-site property manager may appeal to some, in our case we do not see this type of behavior conducive to a comfortable, private, or discrimination free living situation. So please keep this in mind when considering this property.
I don't even know where to start. This place is AMAZING. I don't know what that other person is talking about because I have been living here for 6 wonderful and amazing years. Let me just start at the size of the apartments, they are ENORMOUS! And the building manager (Elena) is a wonderful, amazing, and caring person. She keeps the building neat, clean, and in good shape. It feels like home. It's happened to me a few times when I'm coming out of my apartment and I see the building manager sweeping, cleaning the mailboxes,or cleaning the tables outside and it shows how very much she cares about how the building looks and feels. Did I mention that when I first moved in the apartment was SPOTLESS. Furthermore, the building manager Elena is such a sweet heart. When she doesn't see you for a few days she gets worried. How do I know this? Because once I went on vacation to go visit my brother. When I came back she said "Oh hello how are you and were have you been,I was starting to get worried." It warmed my heart hearing her say that she was worried for me. I wash early in the mornings on Sunday's and I see the building manager cleaning the laundry room and I'm just shocked on how much she can do. She keeps this place standing, takes care of her 2 wonderful, amazing, and beautiful daughters, and supports and cares for her kind and handsome husband. Its amazing how she can care for her family and still care for the building and tenants. To me the building manager Elena is like a super hero! I have no idea what that other person who wrote the other review is talking about because so far my 6 year experience has been wonderful and I have no intend of moving any time soon. This is an AMAZING place to live, like i said Elena is a super hero!
The apartment was falsely advertised as being available ~10 days earlier than it really was. The building manager (Elena) called me five days after I left her a message asking if I wanted to see the apartment that evening or the next day. I said the next afternoon, because she called me during rush hour. I called the next day to confirm, but she didn't answer. Left a message. Showed up an hour later and she told me through the intercom that the apartment was already taken, and that I should have come sooner because she claimed to have told me there were already two applications submitted. No, she didn't tell me that. Why would I even bother if the apartment was practically rented already? And more importantly, why wouldn't she tell me not to come out if they chose a tenant? I told her I called an hour before, and she said, "Oh, really? I guess I should check my messages." Like it was surprising that I would confirm before driving an hour for an appointment. She then tried to blame me, because I told her I would be there in the afternoon, which to her meant noon exactly (it was 3pm when I arrived, and 2pm when I called). The listing was still online days later. Dodged a bullet really, because having to live in a building managed by this person would drive me insane.
